Temple Of Geek Heads To Bell County Comic Con 2018 And Geeks Out!

Bell County Comic Con 2018

The Bell County Comic Con took place at the Bell County Expo Center on August 4th & 5th in Belton Texas. This was the second year of this particular show and they wanted to go bigger and better than the previous year. Did they pull it off? Read below and find out!

The Venue

When I wrote last year’s review, i mentioned that they rented the entire Expo center for the event. This was an incorrect statement. I meant that they entire arena was rented out for the event. This year however, the entire EXPO center was utilized for this event! They had three different halls set-up with various vendors, artists, and celebrities. Hall’s A & B had full DJs both days playing music and making announcments.

The layout was massive! There was a good variety of entertainment in each hall that I was afraid to leave a certain location in fear that I would miss something! Hall A featured several celebrity Artists like Kevin Eastman and Sam De La Rosa. There was also a fully constructed haunted house, presented by Silo of Screams, that was free to con-goers!

Hall B, the main arena, was where celebrities like Austin St. John (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Sam Jones (Flash Gordon), and Danny Trejo (Machete) met with fans. Again, the mixture of vendors/artists/attractions was perfect.

Hall C had more vendors/artists/attractions and hosted the main stage for celebrity panels. The out ring of the main arena also consisted of various artists and more.

The Guests

The guest list for this year’s show was long. I had already mentioned the likes of Eastman, Trejo, St. John, and Jones, but, there was much more present then just these guys. Power Rangers fans not only got Austin St. John, but they got David Fielding (Zordon, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Justin Nimo Silver Space Ranger, Power Rangers In Space) and Tracy Lynn Cruz (Yellow Space Ranger, Power Rangers in Space). For the Dragon Ball fans, Josh Martin (Majin Bu, Dragon Ball Z), Chris Rager (Mr. Satan, Dragon Ball Z), and Linda Young (Frieza, Dragon Ball Z) were present and entertaining convention crawlers.

Other guests included World Wrestling Entertainment stars Jake “The Snake” Roberts and “Hacksaw” Jim Hogan. Hasaan Rasheed from Black Panther was in full costume and taking photos with guests. Finally, returning from last year is Ernie Reyes (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze).

The Cosplay

This year’s Bell County Comic Con pulled no stops when it came to cosplay this year. The ante had been upped from the previous year. There was so much cosplay that we will not show it all here, but you can check out our full cosplay gallery from that convention by clicking this link. Here are a few of our favorites from this year’s show.

Wrap-up

Bell County Comic Con year 2 was a blast. Everyone I spoke with, vendors, con-goers, and even celebrities had nothing but great things to say about this convention. This convention is shaping up to be a must go to in the Central Texas region. They already have their dates booked for 2019 and we were told that show will be even bigger and better then this one! Head to their website now for more information about next year’s show and make sure you are there!
