Wally has looked everywhere for Simon, consequently, Mr. Martin thinks he crossed over. Body and soul. However, Mr. Martin worries that if Wally goes he won’t be able to come back. As no one has returned once they walk through their door. Firstly, Sheriff Baxter takes their statement and Maddie starts by saying why they went to his house. Xavier jumps in and tells his dad they found him like that. Secondly, his dad shows him the picture Livia emailed him from the night he was hit by a truck, surprisingly, Maddie’s driving the truck. He warns Xavier if this gets out he won’t be able to protect him. Nurse Calver takes them into the room where they see other ghosts in a loop. The forgotten. Existing in The Foundry that once was.

Mr. Anderson comes to the hospital to get Maddie’s house key. He’s planning to pick up Maddie’s mom from the center. Maddie asks if he’s experienced anything like weird dreams or seeing things. He replies that he doesn’t look at life the same way and that he’s still trying to wrap his head around what happened. He promises to get her mom home safe. Xavier tells Maddie he’ll keep looking for Kyle while she updates Simon. At the same time while searching for clues, hands appear from under a door and drag Kyle’s into the room as the door slams shut.

Kyle ends back in the room he “died” in and when he walks off kilter out of the room. Passing someone else after they just died in it. Xavier finds him in the hallway. Xavier tells him his body is in the hospital and they need to get back into it. At worst, he’ll just end up back where it started. Claire decides they need to divide and conquer. While Nicole takes Maddie to the school to update the ghost and Simon, Claire plans to do recon on her stepdad. To see if she can learn what his and the superintendent’s plan actually is.

They remember that the only way for Van Heidt to have gotten out of his scar was by taking Ralph’s body after the lightning storm. Leaving Ralph and the pastor trapped in the scar that doesn’t belong to them. Who is his next target? Claire’s trying to get into her step-dad’s email when Diego coaxes her to eat. She tells him how grateful she is to Nicole and his family for taking her in. They finally kiss after a heart to heart! She asks him to stay and help her.

After Maddie leaves, Rhonda finds Wally. For example Wally asks Rhonda if she had her door would she leave. She says yes. He asks her would all of this, even leave Quinn. She replied she would. None of them belonged there. It’s not something she’d wish on her worst enemy. Wally admits that his sister would say to him, “Does he really want to be the guy that peaked in high school?” But he took it as a compliment. He loved everything about high school and never wanted to leave. On the whole even after he died he still didn’t want to. He didn’t want things to change. She says they don’t know anything. It’s all a leap of faith. Whoever or whenever they leave Rhonda says she would miss her friend.

Nicole ignoring all the stop signs rushing back to her house to find out what they found. In summary, Dr. Deborah gets a massive kickback by giving the demolition job to Jeff. They can’t go to the cops or else Claire would get in trouble. Claire has an idea on who could help them. The Sheriff calls Maddie and Xavier into K.C’s room. Dr. Deborah pushes her way into the room as well. K.C. thanks Xavier and Maddie for saving his life that without them he would not be alive. Dr. Deborah is confused by his story. It’s not the outcome she was expecting.

Then he asks Ralph if he knows where Simon is? Ralph points the way. He follows the directions to where the pool of water used to reside. Xavier is happy that they got away with what happened at the corn maze. At this instant Maddie feels so lost. Dave tells Maddie they’ve gotten through being this scared before. He recounts the story of the Halloween where he gave her the compass necklace. That no matter what happens he will always find her and bring her back home. It’s there in case she ever feels lost again. He confesses that the necklace wasn’t from him but her mom. He always felt guilty for taking credit for it.

Principal Hartman’s moment of relaxation is broken when Claire, Xavier, and Nicole burst in his office needing his help with a plan to save the school. While walking the halls Nurse Calver finds her door open once again like it did twenty years ago. At the same time Maddie makes a decision of her own. She takes off her necklace and rubs her finger over it. Red light glows from it. She turns and finds the same door she’s been seeing in her visions. It opens for her. Her spirit walks into it. Seeing what appears to be a forest, she goes in search of Simon.

Review: Will Maddie Be Able to Bring Simon Back Without Getting Trapped Herself?

This leap of faith better come with a return policy. We discover that what we assumed was a hospital door is actually her front door. The compass necklace being Maddie’s key might be the key that unlocks everything. The key was meant to help Maddie find her way back home when she’s lost. Maybe it will also lead the way to Simon and Wally. With her necklace being able to lead the way back home when she might end up lost in the spirit world. Will Simon even want to return to the land of the living? There is a lot of guilt that he held while he was alive. Has that changed being in someone else’s door? Will Maddie have to convince Simon to return?

Mr. Anderson brings Sandra home from the center and backs up Maddie's story.

In addition to bringing not just Simon back but hopefully Wally too. Van Heidt is still at large. No matter what he can’t remain body snatching as he pleases. It also makes us wonder if Mr. Anderson also has the ability to travel through the human and spirit world.

Certainly Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price wanting to destroy the school so badly comes from a very personal place. Is she related to one of our Split River High ghosts? In contrast her goals differ from Van Heidt. At least it’s not just about greed. It’s about taking away something that hurt her in a way she hasn’t been able to heal from. Could Van Heidt have entered her body after her emotional guard was down when he returned to the hospital?

I want a happily ever after for these characters so badly. There’s only one episode left and many things still need to be resolved. All seven episodes of School Spirits Season 3 are available to stream on Paramount+.
