Rebellions are built on hope…and more than a few good actors.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fans are in a tizzy after Disney’s announcement of a new show planned for their exclusive streaming service. Diego Luna, who originated the role of Cassian Andor in the 2016 film, will be reprising the role in a new, as-yet-to-be-titled series.
The drama, set to go into production sometime next year, will center on Andor’s adventures during his formative years when the Rebellion he would soon lose his life to was just a twinkle in Mon Mothma’s eye. It was described in Disney’s announcement as a “rousing spy thriller” filled with “daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
This announcement comes on the heels of another relating to Disney’s exclusive streaming service. THE MANDALORIAN, from director Jon Favreau, started production earlier this year and is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2019.
Everyone who’s anybody in the Star Wars community is excited about the new show.
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna himself said in a statement. “We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
Fans are also excited about this future of more Cassian Andor content, showing their appreciation in a rush of love on Twitter:
I'm crying. I can't believe we get our boy back. OH GOD IT PROBABLY MEANS WE'RE GOING TO GET KAY BACK TOO. NO ONE TOUCH ME.
