Ghosts of Ruin is a new animated series from Gala Films. It takes place in a dystopian future where a new technology, Neural Reality, allows players of the Tournament of Ruin to become completely immersed in the game. However, players begin to forget the difference between reality and the game.

John Bentley is known for voicing a number of animated characters, including various superheroes. These characters have an origin, such as comic books, whereas his character, Dr. Brenan, in Ghosts of Ruin is completely original. We asked what it was like voicing Dr. Brenan. He said:

“This one is awesome because it’s got depth, right? So, sometimes as actors, we get characters that are, I would say like Shrek. You know? Like onions, right? This one is beyond onions. It’s like, you’re not going find more layers and more intention and more, you know, thought process than this particular cat.”

During the Hall H panel, Karen Strassman talked about her interest and knowledge in psychology. We asked her how she used that knowledge in bringing her character to life. She said:

“I don’t think I specifically was intellectual with knowledge. Like, as an actor, I think – how I work is I just tend to feel into the character. So, I don’t really use any analysis or anything like that.”

AleXa is a K-pop idol. She plays Juggernaut, and this was her first voice over role of her career. We asked what it was like going from the K-pop world to voice acting. She said:

“It was a little scary at first hopping in the booth because it’s like, I don’t know if I’m going to be delivering these lines how the show-runners and producers want to hear them. You know? I don’t know how many takes! […] But, fortunately, I had such amazing, like, coaching.”

Ghosts of Ruin features lead Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), K-Pop star AleXa, Josh Keaton (Spectacular Spider-man), Karen Strassman (Sonic the Hedgehog series), and John Bentley (Alpha and Omega). It follows a group of gamers as they navigate a mind-bending world.
