The “Portrait of a Fangirl Podcast” is a new series from the team at the Temple of GeekPortrait of a Fangirl initially began as a web series and has now expanded into a podcast series as well. You can watch and listen to the series both here and on our YouTube channel.  Hosted by Jenna Wrenn, at the core of the project is the importance of telling the stories of women who have found inspiration, growth, and power through fandom.

You can listen to the Temple of Geek Podcast directly on this page or stream it on Apple Podcasts / Google Podcast / iHeart Radio / Stitcher / Spotify and wherever you stream your podcast. You can even watch it on our YouTube channel.

Inclusivity, Representation, and the Authentic Self in Content Creating

Being a fangirl looks different to each person. In this episode, Alix Catherine talked about the impact creating authentic content can have on fans.

If you create something and then you make a difference to somebody, then they create something, that’s going to just keep trickling. You don’t realize that effect that you had. Somebody listening to this show right now–listening to you and me talk–you don’t know who they helped and how that dominoed to somebody who’s going to make a huge difference in the world.

So my best and biggest advice is to just [create content]. Just break that first barrier of the fear and start it, and then you can always make changes and adapt them to adjust later.
