Interview with Vanessa Bauche and Regina Reynoso

From Lionsgate Television, “Acapulco” is inspired by 3Pas Studios and Pantelion Films’ box office hit How to Be A Latin Lover. In addition to starring, Eugenio Derbez (Older Máximo) serves as executive producer. Taking place in 1985 and in the present day, the series tells the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo, whose dream comes true when he scores the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco, Las Colinas.

Máximo (Enrique Arrixon) is deeply committed to taking care of his mother Nora (Vanessa Bauche) and his sister Sara (Regina Reynoso). This season, Nora and Sara have a lot of healing to do both as a family and within themselves.

When asked about what they hope the audience will take away with them after finishing the series, they stated they hoped that audience would:

Reconnect with their families and maybe if they connect with some of the characters, like as with our story, like just tell your children that. How do they feel? And I just hope that they can reconnect with their families and their friends, to watch in Acapulco, and get inspired by love. Regina Reynoso
I hope that they can talk with their relatives and the people around them and with themselves. First of all, we have to fall in love ourselves so we can love the others… the concept of community, which is family actually is that is the core of society. – Vanessa Bauche

“Acapulco” Season Two

In 1985, Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort, unexpected problems at home, and a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. Under Don Pablo’s guidance, he sets his eyes on one day running the entire Las Colinas operation by becoming Diane’s right-hand man. Meanwhile, in the present day, Older Máximo returns to Acapulco to make peace with the recent passing of Don Pablo, where he is forced to confront some unfinished business young Máximo left behind.

Eugenio Derbez (“Older Máximo”) leads an international cast in the ten-episode second season, alongside returning stars Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez (“Julia”), and Chord Overstreet.

Season one of “Acapulco” is now streaming on Apple TV+.
