Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – New Character Names Revealed

mmPosted by

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will be coming to us this fall and now we have five new character names revealed. Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to debut on September 2nd and brings to television the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history.

This story is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory, and fell to ruin. The series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

Character Name Reveals

Character names revealed this week are Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Sir Lenny Henry as Sadoc Burrows, Megan Richards as Poppy Proudfellow, Dylan Smith as Largo Brandyfoot, and Sara Zwangobani as Marigold Brandyfoot.  These will be additional series regulars. Some of them were already seen in the teaser trailer.

Empire Magazine Covers

This month Empire has three collectible covers to choose from. The first cover features Morfydd Clark’s elf Galadriel. The second cover features Dwarf Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) holding hands with Princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete) while they sit on thrones as the rulers of Khazad-dûm. And the final cover features the Harfoots – the precursors to the Hobbits and introduces Megan Richards’ Poppy Proudfellow, Markella Kavenagh’s Elanor ‘Nori’ Brandyfoot, and Lenny Henry’s Sadoc Burrows.

Character Posters for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Previously we’d only seen a short teaser trailers and the Vanity Fair first look images from earlier this year. We will most likely see more promotional material this summer since the show is expected to debut on September 2nd. We likely won’t see a full trailer until San Diego Comic-Con. Prime video has a history of putting on some pretty incredible events at San Diego Comic-Con to promote its new shows. In 2019 they put together an incredibly immersive experience to celebrate The Boys, The Expanse, and Carnival Row. What we have seen the most are character posters framed to only show the character’s hand, each with something in their hands depicting an item that is a clue into what their character’s role in the story will be.
