Temple of Geek Interviews Mark Hamill about Pop Culture Quest

Temple of Geek was invited to a Winter Series showcase of Comic-Con HQ premieres. While we were there, we happened to bump into the Jedi Master himself, Mark Hamill. We asked him a few questions about his new show, Pop Culture Quest which is streaming now on www.comic-conhq.com.

(Tiffany) I’m Tiffany and this is Katie, we’re with Temple of Geek. So, you started a new show called Pop Culture Quest, what has it been like getting to meet these different collectors and see their collections?

(Mark Hamill) What’s amazing is doesn’t matter if you’re personally interested in the items they collect, they’re passion for what they collect is what is so compelling to me. I think sometimes the collectors are more interesting than the items they collect and they have a certain shared passion for whatever it is that they are collecting that is universal. You know, I said are we really doing a show about a guy who collects shoes? Who cares, and then you go and meet him and he is hilarious and he has all these great stories and all these amazing shoes. So, I just keep an open mind and so far, it has been great fun.

(Katie) Sounds like it! Did you frame the picture that Jim Lee did for you?

(Mark Hamill) Of course! (Laughter) And I did not expect to walk away with that by the way but that was one of the perks of being in the right place at the right time I guess.

(Tiffany) Is there anything that you have seen that has blown your mind?

(Mark Hamill) Somebody gave me a Joker themed lightsaber. It was beautifully done it was all purple and green in color and had the smile on the handle.  I thought he was just showing me but he gave it to me! I said we better put that on the show because it was really crafty. These light sabers that they make now are much better than the ones we used in the movies because they are meant to last. Ours only had to hold up for a couple of months. So, these kids come up to me and they show me these things, it’s amazing. I mean I don’t know where they get the money to buy them that’s for sure.

(Tiffany) So how has been revising the Trickster on CW’s The Flash?

(Mark Hamill) Listen, I look. There’s “Ham” in my surname all right and that’s the part that justifies really going crazy. And they are all so nice. I really like the cast a lot and Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti are really smart writers and a, just a chance to work with John Wesley Shipp again was a thrill. He is a really nice guy and really good actor.

It was amazing getting to meet Mr. Hamill and speak to him about his new show Pop Culture Quest. Check it out by heading to www.comic-conhq.com and siging up for an account today. You will be able to check out Pop Culture Quest, Con Man and much more.
