Moon Knight Season One Discussion
This week on the Temple of Geek Podcast we are discussing the first season of Disney+ and Marvel Studios original series “Moon Knight”. Our host Monica Duarte is joined by Victoria Malé and Moriah Narang as they discuss the complex characters and relationships in this series. The series streams exclusively for Disney+. It is a live-action series “Moon Knight,” starring Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy. The story follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered man who lives a mundane life, plagued by blackouts and mysterious memories of a life somehow separate from his own.
After one fateful encounter, Steven discovers that he has Dissociative Identity Disorder and shares a body with Marc Spector—a former mercenary and the ruthless avatar of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and vengeance. With their enemies converging upon them, Steven must learn how to adapt to this revelation and work with Marc. With other godly motives at play, the two must navigate their complex identities amid a deadly battle played out among the powerful gods of Egypt.
The series pays respect and draws inspiration from the origiona Marvel Comics. Moon Knight first appeared in the Marvel Comics in “Werewolf by Night” #32 in 1975, and Marc Spector/Moon Knight. Marc Spector, aka Steven Grant, was a former Marine and CIA operative who became a mercenary and, ultimately, the earthly avatar of the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. While sometimes a hero and at other times a villain at the bidding of the god, Marc was always dealing with his own mental health.
The live action series comes top us now 47 years after his first comics introduction. On this podcast episode we breakdown what we think of the live action incarnations of these charcaters, what we think of the storytelling and what we think this series means in refrence to all other Marvel Properties.

Moriah Narang is a TikTok creator and a first time guest on the Temple of Geek Podcast. We were introduced to Moriah initiallly through the good grace of the TikTok algorithims. We found Moriah’s TikTok where she is known as @ThatOneStrugglingAdult and became obssesed with her weekly Moon Knight related posts. As the series wrapped up we invited her to come take a deep dive into the series. Moriah is known for providing both thoughtful and hilarious commentary on varies fandoms and geeky properties.
