Monthly Games Guide: May 2026

Much like the weather, Spring gaming is coming in like a lion. From cozy gaming to heroic feats, May gaming has something for everyone. It seems like 2026 is working hard to be an incredible year for games and May is no exception. Outbound, despite a minor setback, is set to rollout to players this month. Looking for some emotional gaming? Mixtape and Spirit of the North 2 may be on the top of your list. Or maybe you need some action mixed with a little humor. In that case, a new installment in the LEGO Batman series might be just what you need. There’s something for everyone in this guide, so let’s dive in.

Mixtape

High school may (or may not have) been some of the best years of your life. Either way, this game plucks at those nostalgia heartstrings. Mixtape follows three friends on their last night of high school. Experience the joy, fear, sadness, and excitement of this important night. The art and soundtrack are both stunning and help create an unforgettable tale. Whether two or twenty years away from your senior year of high school, this beautiful game will transport you back to the “good ol days”. Spirit of the North 2

Spirit of the North follows a fox far from home releasing lost guardians with the aid of a Raven companion. It’s sequel once more follows a red fox who becomes inexplicably linked with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a spirit fox. Similar to the first, Spirit of the North 2 is a gorgeous tale in a visually stunning world. Be ready for an emotional tale that will resonate beyond the credits.

Outbound

My hyperfixation on living in a Volkswagen Vanogan started at an early age and Outbound is finally letting that dream come to fruition. Welcome to a utopic near-future where you travel and live in a cute little van. Bonus that you get to design your dream van-life living space including workstations, interior decorations, and gadgets to power your vehicle using sun, wind, and water. Set in an open world ready for exploration solo, with co-op of up to four players, or adopt a furry friend in-game to partake in your adventure.

Directive 8020

Fans of sci-fi horror cannot miss Directive 8020. Also, depending on your tastes, this may be the third of fourth time you find yourself in the Tau Ceti system. Earth is dying and the colony ship of Cassiopeia may be its last hope. But when it crash lands on Tau Ceti f, the colonists aboard are met with a beautiful world…and the truth that they are not alone. Unfortunately, the life on this planet is not friendly and hunt the colonists by mimicking its prey. The ultimate question then is do the colonists do what they need to do to survive at the risk of everyone back on Earth?

Forza Horizon 6

PlayStation fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for the next game in the Forza series. PC and Xbox players can hop in on release date or four days early (May 15) for those who purchase the premium edition. Travel to Japan in the campaign, enjoyed solo or co-oping with friends. From tourist to Horizon Festival, prove your metal and rise in the ranks. Top drivers will then earn access to Legend Island, a place for only the best drivers. Forza Horizon 6 seeks to fully immerse players in Tokyo including over 550 real-world cars that can be adjusted and modded to player preferences. Beyond the campaign, multiplayer awaits. Join time attack circuits, car meets, racing championships, and more.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

If Yoshi is your favorite character in the Mario franchise, you’re going to want to check out his latest adventure. Yoshi is tasked with helping a strange talking book by the name of Mr E. Dive into his pages for a stunning visual world as you hop, jump, and fly your way through various habitats. But keep your eyes peeled. You never know when Bowser Jr may pop up.

Bubsy 4D

Intergalactic sheep theft is quite the problem. However, it isn’t Bubsy’s despite the thieves being his nemesis, the Woolies. It quickly becomes a problem when all of Earth’s sheep overthrow their captors and return as BaaBots, newly empowered by Woolie tech. What’s worse is these BaaBots steal his most prized possession, his Golden Fleece. So back into the fray Bubsy goes, traveling through space with an unlikely cast of characters to take back what’s his. With new and returning moves, more wool to collect, and a funky soundtrack to adventure to, this new adventure is perfect for new and old fans alike.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Batman fans buckle up, you’re in for a ride. The story follows Bruce Wayne from man to bat, training with The League of Shadows along the way. Interact with such characters as Catwoman, Nightwing, and Jim Gordon. And be ready to fight The Joker, Poison Ivy, Bane, and more. Alongside playing as Batman, there are seven total playable characters, each with their own unique skills and gadgets to lean into as you explore Gotham City. But fashion is the true endgame and to celebrate Batman’s 86-year legacy, there are 100 suits and varying outfit for the other playable characters. With over 250 props and trophies, there is so much to find, enemies to fight, and outfits to try. Those who purchase the deluxe edition get access three days sooner.

Letter Lost

Overworked as the sole employee of Kharnym Isle Post Office, be ready for something just a little more sinister than stamping and sorting. Hidden within the walls of this post office are mysteries to be uncovered. The secrets are dark and this may be your last job, unless you can uncover the truth and escape. Letter Lost mixes life sim with horror in this fantastic indie game.

007 First Light

This tale starts off with a young James Bond as a recruit in M16’s training program. An origin story springboarding off of a singular heroic act garnering an invite to the newly returned-to-life Double O program. But the highs must come with lows and after a mission gone wrong, Bond must partner with his reluctant mentor Greenway to put a halt to a threat to the State. This is a standalone Bond origin story with exciting gameplay as he becomes the most notable MI6 agent.
