Disney+ is the gift that keeps giving. A new trailer debuted today for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. It is an original Animated Series from Lucasfilm and it starts streaming on May 4 exclusively on Disney+.

Coming May the 4th

Star Wars: The Bad Batch will make its debut on Tuesday, May 4, with a special 70-minute premiere, followed by new episodes every Friday starting on May 7. May the 4th is significant in the Star Wars fandom. It’s a day that Star Wars fan celebrate their beloved franchise. The day was chosen because May The 4th sounds like “May the Force”, “May the force be with you” is an iconic line said throughout the franchise.  Disney and Star Wars have adopted that day as well and will debut this new show on that day.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

The show is executive produced by Dave Filoni who is responsible for two other very successful Disney+ Star Wars properties, The Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  The rest of the executive team is full of Star Wars alums. Executive producing as well is Athena Portillo (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels”), Brad Rau (“Star Wars Rebels,” “Star Wars Resistance”) and Jennifer Corbett (“Star Wars Resistance,” “NCIS”) with Carrie Beck (“The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars Rebels”) as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer (“Star Wars Resistance”). Rau is also serving as supervising director with Corbett as head writer.
