Crunchyroll Games announced their upcoming multi-platform game, One Punch Man: World. The game is based on the hit action anime, One Punch Man. We got to play a demo version of the game at San Diego Comic-Con, and it was a delight to play.
One Punch Man: World
Fans of the anime and manga series by ONE will have a great time playing through familiar scenes and epic fight sequences. While Saitama can, in fact, destroy enemies with one punch, the game does not make it that easy for its players. One Punch Man: World is almost a one-for-one walk through of the anime in its story mode. However, we get fun, fleshed-out fights that could have happened if Saitama was met with a challenging opponent.
As a gamer, the controls were easy to figure out. It felt like playing other PC games, such as Genshin Impact and World of Warcraft, with only a few minor differences. Powering up the characters allows for players to attack the enemies and bosses with exciting attack sequences and moves that differ from character to character. This keeps the game fresh when switching characters as well as different versions of the same character.
On top of story mode, there are side quests and mini games to play. One Punch Man: World will have cross-platform play capability, so players will be able to play with their friends across PC and mobile. When running around the city, there are buildings to explore, such as a grocery store, an arcade, an more! The detail in the stores and the arcade that we got to see was incredible. Food was labeled as if we were really in a Japanese grocery store. Within the arcade, the arcade games had animations playing on the screens of the machines.
The soundtrack is epic! During the boss battles, the music built up to an exhilarating climax that gave the player a more immersive experience. On top of exciting music, the animation is stunning. The animation captures the essence of the characters (and enemies) perfectly as they battle it out against each other.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, One Punch Man: World is a delightfully entertaining experience. Not only is this a fun game for fans of the anime, but it is also fun for those who may be unfamiliar with the story. From the music to the graphics, there wasn’t a moment that left us disappointed. We are very excited for the release of this game. Stay tuned for more information, including a release date.
