Amanda – I’m playing Halo 5 this week. To be honest, I was doing the first mission thinking who are these people. It’s not Master Chief you’re playing as and I was a bit irritated. Who plays Halo NOT to play MC. But thankfully the second mission, he’s there and I’m glad for it. I haven’t gotten beyond that point but I was relieved. Not gonna lie.
Stacy – Playing the Last of Us 2 and determined to finish it!Â
Gaming News This Week
Ofcom – 6% of UK kids and 4% of UK adults have bought loot boxes. That’s thankfully lower than anyone else suspected. However, the figures for overall in-game content purchase make much more sense with 31% of adults buying in free games and 25% in premium games plus 47% of kids guying in free games and 33% in premium games. That shows that this product directly appeals to children overall.
Amazon pulls Crucible off the market – Crucible is now back in closed beta after poor reviews. They’ve committed to making the game better but this is not a good sign for the new game dev who has other projects in the works.
Streamer ‘Reckful’ Dies, Aged 31- Cause of death is still unknown but the WoW and Twitch legend has passed away. Social media has lit up with tributes to the late streamer and Champion. He was working on his own video game, Everland.
Boss Tactic Tropes
Bosses in a video game just have some key things they all seem to like to do, don’t they? Today we talk about some that we just always seem to come across or what has been seared in our memory.
- When the floor goes lava or fire patches appear like with Deaths Head in Wolfenstein’s new order.Â
- When you have to attack body parts like the Deathwing tentacles in WoW
- When there are cycles of aoes you have to avoid like nearly every ESO dungeon boss
- When they are regenning to full health like werewolves in the Witcher
- When they move the whole battle’s location like Diablo in Diablo 3 and the shadow realm
