Palworld is an action-adventure game that allows players to fight, collect, and work alongside their “Pals”. With over 130 creatures to capture and collect the fun is only getting started! Whether you play alone or multiplayer this survival game is nothing like you have experienced so far! This review will cover some of the highlights of the game and some base location tips for beginners!

Palworld falls under the genre of Survival, Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG, Open World, on Steam’s website. Currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and Steam, this game is perfect for those interested in Pokemon, Monster Hunter, ARK.

Palworld is an early access game on Steam developed by Pocket Pair, Inc. With its initial release set in January 2024, the game has received Very Positive reviews and remains in the Top Sellers since its release.

Mounts

Whether you traverse on land, sea, or sky, there is a Pal that can make the journey easier for you! There are multiple Pals that can be utilized as mounts. The Pal Gear Workbench enables you to craft saddles and weapons for their Pals! The map of Palworld is huge and encourages you to explore for hours through different terrain.

Dungeon Exploration

You may randomly come across a dungeon on your travels. Luckily, the level of difficulty is given before you enter. Dungeons are a great way to acquire resources, find new Pals, fight mini bosses, and collect some good loot.

Smooth Interface

Players will notice that the interface is designed with ease and player freedom in mind! There is no strict objective nor time limit to pressure you to do tasks. There is no linear order of doing things in Palworld. As you discover areas on the map, icons of Pals will appear revealing where bosses are located along with their level. You can pursue any Pal you want to in any order, regardless of their level. Just keep in mind that the stronger the Pal the higher their capture rate!

You can get access to the essentials of what you need before level 10, and the leveling system is similar to most games where the EXP (Experience) gauge grows each time you level.

Base Building

By Level 2 you will unlock the Palbox needed to build a base. There are some incredible guides out there on how to make good bases and where to set up if you want to utilize location and farming resources.

The first base I had was located in the starting location. It was near a fast-travel with ore rocks and plenty of trees that replenish every 24 in-game hours.

The second base I made is located at the castle ruins, which provide great structures to build around and multiple resources nearby. The Level 11 Alpha Boss Chillet is also a hop and skip away which is great for farming Ancient Civilization Parts and Precious Pelts. Ultimately, you want to check this location and drop a base there early on.

Review

My time with Palworld has been nothing but fun and engaging! I love the level of involvement each Pal seems to have and the variety of mounts you can have to personalize the adventure. My best experience has been alongside another person, particularly just the two of us in our own private server exploring and experiencing the thrill of finding new creatures.

To sum up, I really appreciate the custom settings you can apply to your world upon creation and launching it each time you play. In the beginning, I lowered my character’s hunger rate until I got more familiar with the game mechanics and food crafting system. Seeing all the ways you can change your Palworld through the settings makes for a unique and fun experience. Bumping into NPCs along the way is also a fun surprise. In addition, nothing beats exploring uncharted territory and then returning to a multi-layered base to stock up on a well-balanced team, checking your egg incubators, and setting out to tackle a high-level boss. But, in Palworld the experience is what you make it! With 35+ hours into the game I can definitely say this is a game worth trying.

Developers are still releasing new patches for game fixes with new content in the foreseeable future including character customization.
