School Spirits Season 3 Episode 4″The Bereftest Club” Recap

The visions Maddie keeps seeing is getting stronger and it’s terrifying her. Even when she tries to act like it isn’t affecting her. Wally pulls Simon out of the scar below and they loose Mr. Matin’s watch. While the other High School seniors are able to enjoy their field trip. Xavier, Nicole, Claire and Maddie have detention. Maddie and Simon can’t see eye to eye on how to move forward. Simon storms off. Once Maddie leaves to go look for Simon, Claire tries to find out more about the book Simon showed Maddie. Revealing she’s Finnish. Nicole tries to deep fake Simon’s voice to fool his parents and Xavier stays behind to work on their assignment and be the lookout.

Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price continues her plan to bulldoze the high school. She began to inspect the school coming up with any excuse she can for why it has to go. Primarily, requiring Principal Hartman to leave them unsupervised. As a result of wanting to not think about his problems, Yuri finds one of the students stash. Before he can even get one both Mr. Martin and Quinn end up eating all the shrooms. Wally and Maddie share a sweet moment in the bathroom where he is able to help give her a moment of calm.

While searching for Simon, Maddie talks to Mr. South. He shows her a stone. He tells her about the Stone Tap Theory. When something traumatic happens it can leave behind an energy imprint that attached itself to certain stones or materials. Principal Hartman only sees Xavier on the school camera and rushes to the cafeteria. After learning Xavier told Claire and Nicole about her mom going to a detox center Maddie pushes back against sympathy. Maddie told them that she doesn’t want to get her hopes up about her mom. She’s not used to talking about it. She’s always been able to handle it alone. Xavier reminds her that she doesn’t have to do everything alone anymore. That she’s not alone.

As a result of not being able to numb his way out of his problems, Yuri decides to face his scar. Still high Quinn takes a leap and tries to kiss Rhonda but she thinks it’s just cause she high and has her walk it off. When Charley finds him, he’s sitting outside the greenhouse. He shares what his real fear was. Not about being a dad but his fear of being stuck in a house and job that he never wanted. Losing his freedom.

After finally going through all the scars, Wally and Simon get back into the church scar and find Mr. Martin’s watch. The figure in the church finally approaches Simon grabbing on his face. This hulking figure and all you see are White Eyes.

Review: School Spirits Delving Into the Stone Tape Theory

School Spirits take still waters run deep very seriously. The past desperately needs to be heard. Whether they want to make itself known or drag everyone down with them remains to be seen. Learning about the Stone Tape Theory was very fascinating. Especially when you remember that the ghost can’t get past the perimeter of the school. A critical piece of past trauma that time forget after they split the river keeps them from leaving.

When a spirit loses their connection to the place they die they become the “Forgotten”. Is it more than just stopping the past from being erased that’s at play here? Does White Eyes want to create more Forgotten?

Maddie and Simon now being on opposite sides of the veil in a different way than before might be the key to saving the ghost at Split River High from turning into the Forgotten. The past will no longer be erased.
