San Diego Comic Con 2017 – My SDCC Predictions: Part 1

San Diego Comic Con is right around the corner. Over the next few days, I am going to give you some of my SDCC predictions. More than likely none of these predictions will come true, but a fanboy can dream right? Today, I am going to throw a huge prediction your way, It involves two studios and a certain family…

Marvel’s First Family Comes Home

This is more a wish than it is a prediction, but I am putting it here anyways. I predict that Marvel and Fox are going to announce that Fantastic Four is coming home. Furthermore, I believe that after the announcement, we will find out that they are going to be introduced in the 4th Avengers movie! Wouldn’t that be amazing? Lets look at why this is a perfect time for Fox to get into bed with Marvel.

Money Talks

First, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” just brought in huge dollars this past weekend. $257 Million worldwide to be exact. This is the second biggest opening ever for the character behind the abysmal “Spider-Man 3” that was released in 2007. These numbers should prove that fans of these classic characters want to see them back home with Marvel. Why wouldn’t you make some deal with Marvel to co-produce a new Fantastic Four film? What did their last one make, $168 Million Worldwide?

Waiting For Their Time

Next, what are they doing with the characters? Are they going to try and finance a 3rd attempt at the franchise. Fox is having huge success with the X-Men universe and Deadpool right now. Why wouldn’t you team up with Marvel on the Fantastic Four to get a little more revenue? It sounds like a no-brainer. Let Marvel do all the work creating the story and the filming while they sit back and collect revenue. It would be a win for Fox, a win for Marvel, and most importantly a win for the fans!

Fans Want It

Lastly. Speaking of the fans, they just want it to happen. These are beloved characters that have not been given the justice they deserve on film. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe expanding more and more, isn’t it just time for Marvel’s first family to come home? Fans want to see Reed Richards and Tony Stark do science stuff. They want to see Ben Grim and Hulk go at each other. Why can’t we get the Johnny Storm/Peter Parker bromance? Fox, I beg you! Please work a deal out with Marvel and let these characters go.

Wrap-up

I know, I know. This is probably never going to happen. Truth be told though, I never thought we would see Spider-Man back in Marvel’s hands so here’s hoping. What do you think? Is this the year Fox and Marvel play nice and Fantastic Four comes home? Please let me know what your thoughts are by commenting below.
