Today HBO announced that it’s Emmy®-winning comedy series Insecure will come to an end. Its upcoming fifth season will see the end of its run. Creator Issa Rae stars as Insecure’s Issa Dee, who struggles to navigate the tricky professional and personal terrain of Los Angeles along with her best friend Molly (Yvonne Orji).
The fifth and final season is scheduled to begin production later this month and is set to debut later this year on HBO. The new season will continue to follow the shows ensemble cast as they evaluate their relationships, both new and old, in an effort to figure out who and what comes with them in this next phase of their lives.
INSECURE’s fourth season was acclaimed by critics for being groundbreaking and its introspective. The fourth season received nine Emmy® nominations including for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Issa Rae) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Yvonne Orji). The series won an Emmy® for Single-Camera Picture Editing For a Comedy Series.
The first four seasons of INSECURE are available to stream on HBO Max. HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer offering, which debuted May 27, 2020.
