Netflix has released new photos along with a trailer for the highly anticipated season 4 of Stranger Things. Season 3 amassed 582 Million view hours, ranking it as the 2nd Most Popular English-language series in the Netflix Top 10. It is one of Netflix’s most award-winning series, with 65 award wins and 175 award nominations. So to say that this trailer has been a long time coming is an understatement.

Season 4 trailer for Netflix’s Stranger Things

The synopsis for season 4 reads: “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

The trailer for season 4 of Stranger Things begins with what looks like the damage from the compound in the season three finale and an ominous voice warning that payback is coming. It then cuts to scenes that depict the Hawkins friends trying to move on with their lives after the events of season 3. Max is seen at her late brother’s grave. Mike, Lucas, and Dustin are going on to high school without Eleven and Noah. We also finally get to see where Jim Hopper has been taken after the events of season 3. Lastly, the trailer also gives us a glimpse at the new faces and alien-like dangers we will be seeing in season 4.

Vol. 1 will premiere on May 27 and Vol. 2 will premiere on July 1 exclusively on Netflix
