Interview with Vaneza Pitynski of the HBO Max Series “The Garcias”

We sat down with Vaneza Pitynski ahead of the debut of the new series, The Garcias. The Garcias will follow the life of a fictional American family based in San Antonio, TX, who are gathered for a summer vacation at their fancy beach house in Mexico. The Garcias is a groundbreaking reboot of The Brothers Garcia, which was the first English-language sitcom to have an all-Latino cast and creative team. The Garcias will begin streaming on April 14th on HBO Max.

Interview with Vaneza Pitynski

After 18 years, Vaneza Pitynski returns to television to reprise her role as Lorena Garcia.

During our interview, Vaneza spoke to us about what it was like to go back into the character of Lorena.

“I stepped away from acting after the show. For me to come back and for a lot of the original cast to come back to reprise the roles has been something that’s been really interesting.”

Pitynski goes on to say, “It’s weirdly familiar. So much of me has been intertwined into who Lorena is.”

The Garcias on HBO Max

The Garcias is a groundbreaking reboot of The Brothers Garcia, which was the first English-language sitcom to have an all-Latino cast and creative team.  Following that same tradition, this new show will follow this American family based in San Antonio, TX. The family is gathered for a summer vacation in their fancy beach house in Mexico.

The core cast members from the original series — Ada Maris (Sonia Garcia), Carlos Lacamara (Ray Garcia), Alvin Alvarez (Larry Garcia), Jeffrey Licon (Carlos Garcia), Bobby Gonzalez (George Garcia), Vaneza Pitynski (Lorena Garcia) — will reprise their roles in the reboot. In addition to the original cast, we will also get new cast members joining the series. The Garcia children are all grown up and now have spouses and children of their own. Joining the cast are Nitzia Chama as Ana Garcia, Elsha Kim as Yunjin Huh Garcia, Oliver Alexander as Max Garcia, Maeve Garay as Victoria Garcia, Ayva Severy as Andrea Huh Garcia, and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss as Alexa Huh Garcia.

The series will begin streaming on April 14th on HBO Max.
