World of Warcraft has such an enduring legacy that even those outside of gaming know its name. Blizzard has worked tirelessly since 2004 to bring updated and enthralling content to this incredible community. On January 29, the 2026 State of Azeroth video hit YouTube, highlighting what fans can expect in this coming year of content.
Return to Quel’thalas
With March 2 less than a month away, excitement is building for the release of the newest expansion, Midnight. Midnight is the second chapter in the Worldsoul Saga, a three-part series ending with The Last Titan. Upon release, new and returning players can expect a ton of content and features. With the launch comes an increased level cap to 90, four new and reimagined zones, and new campaign and story quests. There will also be eight new dungeons, 11 new delves including one new delve companion, a prey system, and new PvP features including the Slayer’s Rise epic battleground and a training ground to assist in onboarding players to PvP content. And for those who are looking for a place of respite, check out the Arcantina, a tavern of stories. If this isn’t enough, there is plenty more planned post-launch.
Shortly after release, season one begins. This will include a six-boss raid called The Void Spire, The Dream Rift raid, four new world bosses, four new dungeons from Midnight, four updated legacy dungeons, new delves and PvP season. Below is a roadmap outlining the direction for the newest update as well as Mists of Pandaria and Burning Crusade Classic.

Get Your Construction Hats Ready
Another exciting update that has gone live in early access is player housing. Executive Producer Holly Longdale shared that in just the first two weeks of housing early access players spent a whopping 4 million hours, or over 450 years, in in-game housing. This has been a feature players have been asking for for a long time. However, World of Warcraft wanted to bring this to life in the best possible way. Imagination has already abounded in incredible player creations and player feedback is integral to making this feature a success. Expect in-game surveys coming soon for all your likes (or dislikes). Some specific updates coming to Housing with Midnight are placing pets and mounts in your yards and homes, moving pieces en masse as well as a copy/paste feature, template creation for importing and exporting to share designs and ideas, and décor budgets that will increase over time. Neighborhood endeavors are also launching with Midnight, encouraging connection and community with your direct neighbors.
Housing For All
Not only will players begin having housing in-game, they can also help those who are currently unhoused in the world outside of Azeroth. World of Warcraft will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity to help the communities fans live in. In-game purchases of the adorable Rufus will have proceeds going to donate to Habitat for Humanity. For WoW Classic players, Rufus will be available for purchase. WoW Modern players can buy a bundle including Rufus, his house, bed, and bowl. This is an awesome way to bring life to in-game housing while also helping the world around you.

Community Stewardship
Live now is a brand-new feature known as the WoW Ambassador Program. Players know that a game is never really just a game. One as expansive as WoW lends itself to forging friendships and more. However, both the game and meeting new people can be intimidating. This is where the ambassador program is hoping to step in. Ambassadors are players active in both the game and the official Discord . This program is for those who create engagement and connection for long-time veterans and new players alike. For those who want to be a steward to their community, applications are live and can be found here.
2026 is shaping up to be another incredible year in Azeroth. With so much content coming, veterans will have plenty to play. New comers can hop in, find community in the official Discord, and begin their own magical journey. With so many ways to play, there is a something for everyone.
