Temple of Geek Reviews Traffik

Are you ready for an action packed movie that’s going to ignite your summer movie experience? Are you ready for a cast of extremely talented actors, who are passionate about their craft and are here to entertain you? I bet you are, and you think this article is about the Avengers movie, you’ve got to wait until next week, because this week, it’s all about Traffik.

Traffik is a movie about a couple, Brea and John, played by Paula Patton and Omar Epps respectively, who go out for a romantic weekend in the mountains and later their friends, Darren and Malia (played by Laz Alonso and Roselyn Sanchez respectively) surprise them and join them on the trip. Trouble ensues, because it’s a movie and it has to, when a motorcycle gang in possession of an 18 wheeler, crosses path with the quartet and through a series of events one of the motorcyclists’ cell phones gets in the possession of the group.

Realizing what has happens and what potential consequences can happen to them, the motorcycle gang then engages Brea, John, Darren and Malia in a fight for their lives in order to keep their business from getting out to the public.

Traffik is directed by Deon Taylor, a Chicago native whose film credits also include the 2016 comedy, Meet the Blacks, starring Mike Epps. He also has experience directing horror as he was the director of the BET series Nite Tales, which starred Flavor Flav. The tone of Traffik is thrilling and dark and sheds light on a problem within American society that is largely looked past in the world we live in today. You’ve got to check it out to see exactly what I’m talking about. It is shot beautifully and the cast puts on a great performance in this engaging and thought provoking film. Go check it out this weekend and see for yourself!

Traffik will be released in theaters on April 20 even though most trailers will say that it will be released on the 27th. The release date was changed in order for the film to not be in direct competition with the Avengers. Smart move if you ask me. However, the movie was great and if you consider yourself a fan of cinematic thrillers, you should treat yourself this weekend to Traffik.
