If you’re a gamer who’s looking for comfy, casual, sharp-looking tees to represent your favorite fandoms, then Insert Coin has you covered.
The UK-based clothing company specializes in stylish, official, limited apparel and accessories inspired by video games. The founders of Insert Coin said the name was inspired by childhood memories of hanging out in arcades. They started the business in 2010 to celebrate the games they loved playing, “not just on screen, but in the real world.”
The company offers tees, hoodies, sweaters, bags, scarves, hats, pins, and other items. Their designs are inspired by favorites such as Assassin’s Creed, Cuphead, Doom, Fallout, God of War, LittleBigPlanet, Resident Evil, and Ratchet & Clank. Each piece is made exclusively for Insert Coin and approved by game developers and publishers.
Temple of Geek enlisted geek fashion queens Emily, Xandra, and Katie to get their game on in tees by Insert Coin.
Vault Boy Forever Fallout Sweater
The iconic face of Vaul-Tec — and his boyish wink — help Fallout fans advertise their love for Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG. This lightweight but cozy sweatshirt is made of 100% cotton and runs a little long.
Emily modeled a size small.
What we love about it: The retro style of this shirt is the perfect fit for Fallout. We’re fans of the color palette, soft heather gray with blue and yellow stitched sleeve ringers. The subtle Fallout logo on the back of the neck is a nice touch.
Emily appreciated the top’s versatility. “As a pullover in case it gets chilly or as a standalone cozy shirt, this Fallout sweatshirt combines vintage style with modern comfort,” she said.
The Hivebusters Gears 5 T-Shirt
Represent Scorpio squad with this men’s cut tee, emblazoned with the triangle-shaped scorpion logo. It pays tribute to the toughest Hivebuster strike team on Sera. Lahni, Mac, and Keegan would be proud.
Katie modeled a size XL.
What we love about it: The simple, minimalist design contrasts beautifully with striking colors, “Swarm Green,” as Insert Coin dubs it, with vivid yellow and black. The cotton-polyester blend is soft and comfy. We also love the small but effective detail of the Gears 5 logo on the back of the neck. This is an exclusive E3 edition T-shirt, which makes it extra special.
BJ Blazcowicz Wolfenstsein Long Sleeved Tee
This jersey-style, long-sleeved tee, inspired by the reboot of the classic ‘80s video games, has a killer color scheme of bright “Colossus Yellow,” black, and red. Inspired by the jacket worn by spy extraordinaire William Joseph “B.J.” Blazkowicz, it features his signature “2 Down 7 to Go” logo. Wear it and strike fear into the hearts of your enemies, just like BJ.
Xandra modeled a Medium, which can be a snug fit and run a little long.
What we love about it: Our favorite alternate history game is well represented with this eye-catching, bright yellow tee. We don’t know which we like better — the fact that we can wear Terror Billy’s signature leather jacket in a subtler, comfier form, or the textured, double stripe sleeve detailing. The shirt is lightweight and comfortable, which makes it perfect for hours of gaming.
THOGG Ni No Kuni II T-Shirt
Based on Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, this men’s cut tee is emblazoned with the grumpy, golden silhouette of THOGG, the hairy, horned beast of one a memorable boss battle.
Katie modeled a size Large. For men, this tee might run a bit small.
What we love about it: This is just a fun design, one that will guarantee you compliments from other Ni No Kuni fans. We like that the “Woolly Green” color is an unusual shade of green and the clever simplicity of the artwork. The shirt is as unique as the game itself. We doubt you’ll find another design quite like it.
Overall:
Insert Coin’s shirt designs may look basic, but they’re playful, pristine, and packed with enjoyable details from the video games we love. It’s obvious these looks are designed by people with a passion for gaming.
Most of the shirts come in a “unisex” cut. According to the company, it’s their most popular style with all genders and they want to cater to everyone. We appreciate this effort toward inclusiveness. The shirts we tried mostly fit true to size.
