The BoxLunch Holiday Gala brings in $200,000 for Feeding America

The BoxLunch Holiday Gala took place last night in Los Angeles, CA. The event star-studded event celebrated the retailer’s partnership with Feeding America to fight hunger nationwide. The gala featured performances by Anika Noni Rose and Kevin Li, as well as speeches by host Joel McHale and new BoxLunch Ambassador David Harbour. Harbour doubled his $100,000 donation to Feeding America during the event, bringing the total donation to $200,000. The gala also honored four Feeding America network local food banks with awards and $25,000 donations each.

BoxLunch’s unique initiative is to provide a meal to a person in need for every $10 spent in-store or online. In 2023, BoxLunch celebrated a milestone of 175 million meals donated to Feeding America.

The BoxLunch Holiday Gala

The BoxLunch Holiday Gala opened with a performance by Anika Noni Rose and a surprise appearance by Simu Liu, the outgoing BoxLunch Ambassador. Joel McHale, the host of the evening, gave a stand-up set that poked fun at the guests in attendance while highlighting BoxLunch’s philanthropic work.

Throughout the evening, BoxLunch spotlighted the exemplary work of four Feeding America network local food banks by presenting an award and donating $25,000 to each.

After a short interlude featuring a magic performance by Kevin Li, outgoing BoxLunch Ambassador Simu Liu returned to the stage to pass the torch to the new BoxLunch Ambassador, David Harbour. Harbour announced a $100,000 donation to Feeding America and then surprised the audience by doubling his donation to $200,000.

The evening concluded with a second performance from Tony winner Anika Noni Rose, who closed the evening with a soulful rendition of “Grown Up Christmas List.
