Interview with Jeffrey Licon, Elsha Kim & Trinity Jo-Li Bliss

After 18 years, Jeffrey Licon returns to television to reprise his role as Carlos Garcia. This time, he’ll be starring alongside Elsha Kim who plays Yunjin Huh, Carlos’ wife. Playing their daughter, Alexa Huh Garcia, is Trinity Jo-Li Bliss.

During the interview, Jeffrey Licon explained how he is excited for audiences to see just how far his character Carlos has come since the original series. He stated:

“I think just seeing Carlos actually mature through his wild antics that he used to, you know, somehow find himself in all the time. And to now see him with children and being a father and trying to do the best job that he can. Messing up sometimes still, but just him growing and the development of just him as a man and a father and a husband.”

Elsha Kim told us that what she hopes audiences understand about her character is the kind of mother she is. She told us, “She’s different from the stereotypical Asian mom whose really like ‘Get good grades, be a doctor.’ I feel like it’s so empowering to have parents who support their children no matter what.”

When discussing her character, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss reminded us what the show is really about: “I hope audiences take away that this is a normal family. A universal family.”
