The Legend of Vox Machina Rolls A Nat 20 Performance Check

Bidet, Critters, and newcomers!  January is the month that keeps on giving!  With the launch of Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn early last week and The Legend of Vox Machina on the 28th, there’s a lot to be grateful for!

We are especially excited about how perfectly executed The legend of Vox Machina is. This new animated series for adults premieres on Friday, January 28. The first season will consist of 12 episodes with three episodes premiering every week exclusively on Prime Video. The series is based on the characters and adventures of Critical Role’s first live-streamed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) campaign.

So, what can we expect from The Legend of Vox Machina?

The Legend of Vox Machina is a fitting entry to the world of Critical Role and the misadventures of our ragtag would-be heroes.  Do you have to watch the first campaign to understand the events of the show?  No.  You can go in fresh and that’s the beauty of it.

The Legend of Vox Machina

The Legend of Vox Machina does an excellent job of keeping the story beats of the first campaign in check while feeling new and perfectly paced.  For the seasoned vets who have watched the first campaign: you’re in for a treat.  For the newcomers who are unfamiliar with the world?  Get ready to be served a healthy helping of wonder packaged in a gorgeously animated show.

The series also heralds in amazing voice talent for some of the NPCs we know and love (sorry, Matt couldn’t voice all of them).  These include but are not limited to: Stephanie Beatriz as Lady Kima, Indira Varma as Lady Allura Vysoren, David Tennant as General Krieg with so many others peppered in throughout.

A look at The Legend of Vox Machina

The first two episodes illustrate Tal’Dorei (specifically Emon) by introducing us to a brand new adventure, that sets us up for the rest of the series.  This turns out to be the perfect catalyst to delve right into episode three; the beloved Briarwood arc.

From nerdy-ass voice actors playing at home, to streaming and now having an animated show; Critical Role has shown the world the true potential of storytelling.

Is it Friday yet? The first season will premiere, Friday, January 28 exclusively on Prime Video.
