There is a Geek Fashion Week coming in 2024

The Geek Fashion Week Group is hosting a virtual fashion week on Instagram from February 9-14, 2024. The event will showcase geek and fandom-inspired clothing and accessories designed and made by participants.

The event is free to participate in and the goal is to share the love of geek fashion. Anyone interested in participating can join the Facebook group The Geek Fashion Week.

What you need to know about Geek Fashion Week

February 9th-14th, 2024 The Geek Fashion Week Group will be holding a
virtual fashion week-style event showcasing designers who have
designed and made their own geek and fandom-inspired clothing and/or
accessories.

This event will take place on Instagram on the page @thegeekfashionweek, and with the event hashtag #geekfashionweek24 across Instagram on designer’s individual accounts, and with potential hosts and collaborators.

Organizers are in the planning and organization stage and are looking for anyone who would be interested in getting involved as a designer/maker and/or event planner.  Anyone who would like to take part in this event is invited to join our Facebook group The Geek Fashion Week at the following address: www.facebook.com/groups/thegeekfashionweek/

What Geek Fashion Week organizers are looking for:

• Original geek fashion garments and/or accessories designed and made by
  submitting participants
• Designs submitted to this event can be individual pieces, outfits,
  or even entire collections. You are free to put as much or as little
  into this event as you want. This is an opportunity for you to build
  your portfolio and show off your mad skills!
• People to help grow the geek fashion community which is a wonderfully supportive group of people who share their passion for fashion and proud geek fandom.

Geek Fashion Week Requirements for entrants:

• All designers/sewists involved have an Instagram account so we can
  credit them in posts with their pieces.
• Garments and accessories are inspired by geek culture and fandom
  (think anything celebrated at the various pop culture conventions)
• Pieces are designed and created by participants (it is okay to work as
  a team of designers, or commission someone to sew your design for you
  as long as the sewist is credited also)
• Designs are meant as fashion pieces, not Cosplay or costumes
• All pieces are completed with 1-10 pictures/videos of each design, and
  desired post descriptions, sent to @geekfashionweek by January 26th,
  2024
• Pictures and descriptions are compliant with Instagram policies
• Designers/sewists are welcome to post designs to their own accounts with the hashtag #geekfashionweek24 during the event week. Be sure to communicate with @thegeekfashionweek about your posting plans so we can coordinate good cross-promotion
