Need to get out of the hustle and bustle of the convention center. Here is a list of things happening outside the San Diego Comic-Con and in the surrounding areas.
“House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den”
Open from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24, “House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den” is an interactive experience, created by agency Giant Spoon, where Comic-Con attendees will be guided through a ceremonial dragon hatching experience. Walking in a Targaryen’s footsteps, each person will step from our world into the sights and sounds of King’s Landing, interact with the people of the city, select their own dragon egg, and bravely demonstrate they are worthy of a bond with a dragon. From the caverns of Dragonstone to the magnificent Red Keep, guests will be ushered by a designated Dragonkeeper through seven dynamic phases, encountering special interactions, and sound sensory elements Powered by Bose, on their journey.

The “House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den” culminates in the Throne Room, where, for the first time, fans will be able to see and sit on the new, mighty Targaryen-era Iron Throne for a photo moment, acknowledging the reign of Fire and Blood in this infamous era of Westeros.
Having proven themselves true Targaryens, each person will hatch their personalized, virtual dragon egg in a new augmented reality app, House of the Dragon: DracARys, before exiting, enabling them to “raise” their dragon at home. Powered by Niantic Lightship and produced by The Mill, House of the Dragon: DracARys will be available for download in the Apple and Google Play app stores starting July 20. Participants of “House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den” will receive exclusive access to the app’s dragon hatching features before the app begins its global rollout and unlocks full functionality on July 25.
“House of the Dragon: The Dragon’s Den” will be open to all San Diego Comic-Con badge holders. San Diego Comic-Con attendees will also have the opportunity to receive two fast-pass tickets each for the experience at designated “HBO Max Drop Zones,” which will serve as beacons for HBO Max activity across Comic-Con. Each visit to a Drop Zone will present attendees with unique giveaways: custom content, swag, VIP seats to screenings, and more.

Paramount+ Presents “STAR TREK’S 10 FORWARD: THE EXPERIENCE”
For all of you “Star Trek” fans out there, look no further! Paramount+ is bringing “STAR TREK’S 10 FORWARD: THE EXPERIENCE” to San Diego this July. Step foot inside this one-of-a-kind immersive “Star Trek” experience with tasty food, intergalactic drinks, a multitude of photo opportunities, and interactive activations. WRATH OF P’KHAN COOLHAUS ICE CREAM TRUCK
Women-owned ice cream brand Coolhaus will be bringing consumers in New York City limited-edition Wrath of P’Khan ice cream sandwiches via a branded truck. The film-inspired wrapped truck will be visiting fans in SoHo at Prince Street and Green Street on June 4.
Ringing in National Ice Cream Day on July 17, the Coolhaus vehicle will make its way to Los Angeles’ busiest spot, Santa Monica at 2nd Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, in the peak of summer to bring the celebration and custom ice cream to “Star Trek” lovers in the City of Angels.
The ice cream truck will also be heading to San Diego Comic-Con this year with streaming service Paramount+. They will be handing out Wrath of P’Khan ice cream sandwiches and celebrating the anniversary with fans of the franchise at the largest convention of its kind in the world.
THE NBCU CORNER @SDCC
NBCUniversal is set to take over Gaslamp Plaza with the NBCU Corner @ SDCC, featuring content from entertainment television and streaming platforms NBC, Peacock, SYFY, and USA Network. The immersive fan hub is a space where attendees can relax and recharge in-between panels with fun photo moments from new and returning NBCU shows, view custom NBCU content from the shaded viewing lawn, and be rewarded with exclusive surprise giveaways throughout the weekend.
Shows highlighted at the NBCU Corner @ SDCC include NBC’s “Quantum Leap” and “La Brea,” USA Network and SYFY’s “Chucky,” SYFY’s “Resident Alien,” “Reginald the Vampire,” Peacock’s “Vampire Academy,” “The End is Nye” and “The Resort.”

COZI TV ‘ICONIC CHARACTERS’ EXPERIENCE

Comic-Con attendees can visit many of TV’s most iconic characters with COZI TV’s Iconic Characters exhibit. The exhibit will be highlighted by a genuine 1962 AMC Rambler American 400, just like the red convertible featured in the Emmy-winning “3rd Rock from the Sun,” and an appearance on Friday, July 22 by actor and comedian French Stewart, who played the character Harry Solomon on the hit comedy. Eligible fans will be able to enter for a chance to win the fully restored classic car through the COZI TV 3rd Rock Rambler Sweepstakes, which anyone is available to enter at COZITV.com now through Aug. 31. COZI TV, NBCUniversal Local’s national multicast network that delivers the all-time best shows and pop culture favorites such as “The Munsters,” “The Nanny” and “Roseanne.”
The Walking Dead Fan Celebration
Located at the Hilton Gaslamp Hotel (4th Avenue and L Street, across from the Convention Center), The Walking Dead Fan Celebration is an in-world activation hosted by AMC Networks on Friday, July 22 at 7:30 pm PT, reuniting Comic-Con and TWD fans to relive some of the most iconic moments and characters from the past eleven seasons.
Fans will be treated to a variety of exclusive experiences, designed specifically for San Diego Comic-Con, including an impressive collection of series set pieces, props, and artifacts from all seasons, showcasing the series’ artistry and craft and offering fans the chance to capture photos and videos amongst their favorite elements from the series. Custom video content will also highlight memorable TWD moments, and include special messages from the cast and crew, honoring this ground-breaking television series.
AMC will distribute custom-designed TWD enamel pins, representing iconic images from the show’s eleven seasons, plus one bonus design pin commemorating The Walking Dead Fan Celebration.
Attendees will have the opportunity to choose from four custom-designed screen-printed t-shirts honoring the series, available exclusively that evening; transform themselves into the undead after visiting a Walking Dead-inspired walker make-up station; enjoy the Commonwealth’s “Taste of Tradition” ice cream flavors, along with themed beverages and food; and participate in a Commonwealth-inspired lottery for additional giveaways.

Ready Party One: Love and Thunder, SDCC Kick-Off Party is happening on Wed, Jul 20, 2022, 8:00 PM at Parq Nightclub. The lineup includes fan-favorite flashback band The Flux Capacitors, incredible DJs, and live performances that lean into the theme of the evening. And if you know anything about RPO, you’ll know to expect a few fun surprises throughout the night.

Stern Pinball: Bigger Booth, Better Arcade, Huge Guests
Stern Pinball, is famous for its iconic Pinball Machines. You can them on the show floor at Booth #3721 or if you want something away from the convention center stop by the Pop-up Arcade at the Marriott Marquis.
Stern is home to some of the most classic and sought-after Pinball Machines including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Stranger Things, The Mandalorian, Rush, The Avengers, and plenty more. They’ve made some really cool innovative changes to their pinball machines over the past few years and are continuing to modify their newer models for more interactive play.
Sea Monster Saloon Private Party
The Sea Monster Saloon, sponsored by Pusser’s Rum, will be hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego aboard Star of India Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. for guests 21 and up. Tickets include a spectacular waterfront concert by the popular San Diego blues and rock trio, Fish & the Seaweeds, Sea Monsters: Delving into the Deep Myth exhibit entry, Mai Tai specialty rum cocktail with signature event cup, sea-inspired appetizers, and dessert nibbles.

CBS’S “GHOSTS” MAKES SAN DIEGO COMIC–CON ITS HAUNTING GROUND
The Activation:
As part of CBS’s “Summer of GHOSTS” immersive marketing campaign honoring the “recently departed” first season and its upcoming sophomore season this fall, GHOSTS will show up in San Diego with Pinecone Trooper Pete’s “Friend Zone,” an activation with a campsite feel in honor of scout leader ghost Pete, whose unfortunate archery accident left him with an arrow through his neck for eternity. The activation will be set up at the Interactive Zone at Petco Park from July 21-24, and will feature a “scare-free” archery activation – but nothing is what it seems at this campsite setup on ‘the lawn’ of The Woodstone Mansion – the show’s setting and home to the ghosts. Fans can connect with Ghosts and ‘the other side’ through psychic mediums and programming that’ll give attendees insight into their past, present, and future lives.
The Metaverse:
Fans who can’t make it to San Diego can still enjoy the GHOSTS experience in the Metaverse, which, beginning on July 21, will take fans on an immersive journey through the haunted Woodstone Mansion to solve puzzles, undertake quests and earn limited edition, collectible NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). The GHOSTS mansion was meticulously recreated using actual blueprints and features surprising interactions with the show’s main characters.
Season two of the critically acclaimed #1 new comedy/series and breakout hit GHOSTS will premiere Thursday, Sept. 29 in its new time slot at 8:30 PM on CBS. The entire first season is available to stream on-demand on Paramount+. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Apple TV+ “Severance” Experience
On the heels of the year’s hottest drama “Severance” landing 14 Emmy nominations, Apple TV+ announced details of the most sought-after destination at San Diego Comic-Con International – – the “Lumon Industries Orientation” experience. Developed in partnership with the series’ executive producer and director, Ben Stiller, the must-see immersive experience will run throughout the four days of the world’s largest fan convention, from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24 at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Fans will have a unique opportunity to be “severed” – a procedure that separates your work life from your personal life – as they immerse themselves as new employees in the world of Lumon Industries. The experience will take guests seeking better work-life balance through their first day on Lumon’s severed floor, but from the moment they enter the boardroom, they will realize that not all is as it seems.
Beginning Thursday, July 21 at 6:00 a.m. PT, and continuing throughout the weekend, fans will be able secure a reserved time to experience Lumon’s employee orientation, at welcometolumon.com. Additional slots will be released each day at 6:00 a.m. PT and a standby line will be available for those without a reservation. In accordance with Comic-Con’s COVID policy, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test will be required for entry, along with face masks and identification.
