This episode starts with the main crew for this series playing a thrilling game of Pictionary, but not just regular Pictionary, special heaven Pictionary! As stated by queen Eleanor Shelltrop, each drawing has something to do with the main characters’ lives back on Earth, so that they can all get to know each other a little better. How adorable!
Chidi is called both “Chippy” and “My Brotha” which causes a really funny (and understandable reaction from Simone) Oh also, Chidi’s creepy horse drawing comes to life and frankly it’s scarier than any of the demons we have seen from the Bad Place.
The creepy train from the last episodes arrives in town which appropriately gets a “what the fork” reaction out of the gang. We learn that on that train is no other than Glenn from the bad place! If you have read my previous review of The Good Place: The Selection, I called that there was something suspicious about Glenn. He tells the gang that Michael is not really Michael, he’s actually a demon in a Michael suit. Obviously “Michael” denies this. Jason has the BRILLIANT line of “If you’re the devil, how come you’re not wearing Prada?” Line of the century right there. Bravo, writers, bravo.
Glenn discusses how he doesn’t know if he trusts the Bad Place anymore and provides the soul squad with proof that Michael is not really Michael. They don’t want to call the Judge to handle this, as she would reset the entire experiment and get rid of all the progress the characters (John, Simone, and Chidi) have been through.
Michael defends himself which makes the soul squad extremely conflicted. Who should they trust? Glenn or “Michael”? Glenn explains that during the mix up in episode one with the punching demon disguised as an old lady, the Bad Place switched real Michael and fake Michael.
Eleanor suggests that Michael proves who he is by removing his skinsuit. Michael doesn’t want to because his true form would make the soul squad look at him in a different way. Honestly its really upsetting because Michael sounds so upset about it. He even calls himself disgusting which actually broke my heart.
Janet invents a demon lie detector which causes Glenn to blow up when he talks about his real name. Janet says that was not supposed to happen and that shes never killed anyone before, but I am not sure if I believe her.
Chidi and Eleanor have a bit of a moment where they have a sort of unintentional mini nacho date. I totally think Chidi is falling for Eleanor. CAN THEY GET TOGETHER ALREADY?!
Michael decides that the only way around this situation is if he blows himself up. That way, he won’t be in anyone’s way and nobody will have to worry about him escaping. Which is again, heartbreaking. Now in a MASSIVE TWIST, Jason stops Michael and makes JANET take off her skin suit which reveals that she is not Janet, shes BAD JANET! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! Jason explains that because Janet didn’t correct him when he called Janet “girl” he realized that she wasn’t really Janet. Honestly, Jason is smarter than he seems.
Michael suggesting to goo-ify himself gave the soul squad enough proof that he is indeed the real Michael, yay! We learn that real Janet is locked up in the Bad Place. Jason wants to punch the demons in the mouth so he offers to go the Bad Place to rescue his not-a-girl! He goes with Michael (wearing dashing in a beautiful suit, may I add)
Episode four was another amazing episode. One question I have though, I thought that once a Janet is marbleized, they can’t be un-marbleized. That is why they tried so hard to stop that from happening in earlier seasons, however bad Janet says that she marbleized good Janet, but then says she’s now locked in the Bad Place. I am slightly confused about that. I need to know more about the marbleizing process. I don’t need sleep, I need answers. Apart from that, I loved that episode. Jason was brilliant and Michael really tugged on the heartstrings! 5 out of 5 to all involved!
