Top 10 Tips For Surviving SDCC

The long anticipated arrival of SDCC is right around the corner. Literally right around the corner as tomorrow marks the beginning of SDCC. If you’re one of those con-goers standing in the long lines to get tickets, you may be questioning why you chose to do this to yourself. No fear happy con-goer, I have created a list of things to help you survive this year’s SDCC adventure. Get ready to be prepared with my top ten tips to survive SDCC!

1.DON’T BLOCK THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC!

But really guys, don’t be this person. Everyone hates that person who stands directly in everyone’s way to snap a pic. Find somewhere to step aside and snap that pic. This tip will help your survive the con solely because people won’t want to kill you.

2.Invest in Some Insoles

Whether you’re on your way to San Diego or already there, you’re going to want to invest in insoles. Dr.Scholl is a magical man that creates insoles for every type of shoe. So whether you’re rocking those cosplay heels, or just some dope crocs, be prepared.

3.Arrive Everywhere Early

SDCC is renowned for having long lines. The best thing to fight this is arrive at least an hour early to every event. If you’re attending a super popular event bump that up to two hours early.

4.Don’t push yourself too far

Ah yes, the temptation to stay out late partying is very tempting. But if you have an early morning event, DON’T DO IT. You will regret it the next day. By all means have a good time, just be sure to clear out your next morning schedule if you do.

5.Don’t love it in the dealer’s hall?

What was that saying your mom used to tell you? “Don’t love it in the store? You won’t wear it at home.” The same rules apply in the Dealers Hall. If you aren’t completely in love with it when you see it, it won’t be worth it when you get home.

6. Don’t hug the furries.

What more is there to say. DON’T HUG THE FURRIES.

7.Bring Flats

No matter how cute those cosplay heels are by hour six you will be in indescribable pain. So either pack flats or think practically about the heels you pick. Remember the thicker the heel the more comfortable the long wear power.

8. Long Nights. Many Naps.

If you’re planning on pulling an all-nighter at those SDCC parties, remember you’re still human. Humans need sleep. Take many naps to survive to all night party haul.

9. Hydration

Caffeine in all it’s forms will be your best friend this weekend. But don’t neglect that caffeine is dehydrator. Don’t forget to drink just as much water as you do caffeine. Your bathroom trips may be more frequent but it’s well worth it to not pass out from dehydration.

10.Have Fun!

You are going to one of the largest conventions in the world. Don’t be stressed out about missing an event. Be in the moment and embrace everything the convention has to offer!

And as always,

Have a geek filled day!
