Sethu features prominently in both “Doctor Who” and “Andor,” with both series debuting on Disney+ this April. Her presence in two of the biggest sci-fi franchises, launching new seasons on a major streaming platform, underscores her rising prominence. Disney+ released promotional posters today, highlighting Sethu’s dual roles. The “Doctor Who” posters emphasize this season’s theme: getting Belinda Chandra home.

In “Doctor Who,” Ncuti Gatwa returns as the Doctor, alongside Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. This season introduces Belinda Chandra, whom the Doctor attempts to return to Earth. However, a mysterious force intervenes, plunging the TARDIS team into perilous encounters with formidable adversaries and unprecedented terrors. Notably, Varada Sethu, cast as Belinda Chandra, previously appeared as Mundy Flynn in the season one episode “Boom,” continuing the trend of companions with prior Whoniverse roles.

“Andor” depicts the escalating conflict between the Empire and the burgeoning Rebel Alliance. Sethu portrays Cinta Kaz, a rebel operative aligned with Cassian Andor, featured on the rebel side of the promotional material. Her character, part of a cell working with Vel Sartha, is a dedicated and determined member of the rebellion. Notably, Cinta Kaz is part of the first major on-screen queer couple within the Star Wars universe, alongside Vel Sartha.

“Doctor Who” Season Two Premieres April 12th

Viewers can expect a whirlwind journey through the 51st century, a bizarre interstellar song contest, and an unprecedented animated sequence. A sinister force immediately sabotages the season’s core mission—returning Belinda Chandra to Earth.

Adding to the intrigue, Emmy Award winner Alan Cumming guest stars as Mr. Ring-a-Ding, a cartoon character with a sinister twist. The season also features returning companions Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) and Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave). As well as guest appearances from Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, Anita Dobson, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, and Susan Twist.

“Andor” Season Two Premieres April 22nd

“Andor” returns to Disney+ on April 22nd, delivering the final chapter of Cassian Andor’s transformation. The new trailer and poster signal a season of raw intensity and political warfare.

The final season consists of 12 episodes, divided into four chapters of three episodes each, with new chapters released weekly.
