What you need to know about Disneyland Re-opening on April 30th

After being closed for more than one year, magic is back at Disneyland Resort theme parks more than 10,000 Cast Members are returning to work. Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure park will plan to reopen on April 30, 2021. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will plan to reopen on April 29, 2021. The Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel remain closed and will reopen at a later date. Here is some information you should know about the reopening.

Disneyland Resort Phased Reopening and Important Information

To enter a park, both park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for Guests age 3 and up. Reservations are limited. Until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines.

The Downtown Disney District is open with select retail and dining locations. A Touch of Disney, the new limited-time ticketed experience at Disney California Adventure Park which has sold out, will go on as planned from March 18 through April 19, 2021.

Upon reopening, certain parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences, and other offerings will be modified or unavailable, will have limited capacity, and will be subject to limited availability or even closure, and park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. View important details.

Social Distancing still important at Disneyland

While theme park capacity has been reduced to help with physical distancing, additional measures may include enhanced cleaning, cashless transactions, and physical barriers.

Disneyland is pushing for Cashless Transactions. They recommended that Guests use cashless payment options while visiting the Disneyland Resort, including debit cards, credit cards, etc. Guests can also use contactless payment options, such as mobile wallets, or purchase a Disney Gift Card at the World of Disney store and select merchandise locations for use at Disney-owned and -operated merchandise locations.

Disneyland strongly recommends that you have the latest version of the app on your mobile device before you visit, with location services and notifications enabled. It is strongly encouraged that you save time and limit your contact with others when you order and pay for your food and beverages with our mobile order service, available at select locations in the parks. Reserve a table at select dining locations in the Disneyland Resort directly from the app before your next visit. If your plans change, cancel them easily. Disneyland wants you to maximize your time—and minimize your contact with others—by checking in for dining reservations at select table-service restaurants via the app.

As Disneyland Resort reopens, guests should expect new health and safety measures based on guidance from health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and appropriate government agencies. Directional signage has been installed to assist Guests to maintain physical distancing as they move throughout the property. Additionally, ground markings will help promote proper physical distancing when queuing is needed at a location. Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines. These may be visible in areas around cash registers or at Guest Relations to help promote proper distances between people.

Guests will be required to undergo temperature screenings before entry to some locations at the Disneyland Resort, including the theme parks and the Downtown Disney District. Based on guidance from health authorities, anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 F or above will be directed to an additional location for rescreening. A Guest with a temperature of 100.4 F or above—in addition to everyone in the Guest’s traveling party—will not be allowed entry. Before you leave home, be sure to check the temperatures of everyone in your party—including yourself—as an extra layer of precaution. Cast Members and Operating Participant employees are also required to complete a health screening and temperature check prior to coming to work.


Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up), Cast Members, and Operating Participant employees, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material, fully cover the nose and mouth, and secure under the chin. Face coverings must fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face and be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free. At this time, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves, mesh material, or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings. Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn.

Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must be a fabric face-covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that are attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching and must meet all face-covering requirements. The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.


Annual Passport Information 

An update regarding Disneyland Resort Annual Passports is now available. View important details. Disney will be issuing a refund for unused Annual Passport payments. At this time there is no plan to start up annual passports. But Disney has stated that they will reach out directly to annual passport holders as soon as they announce the return of the Annual Passport Service.

COVID-19 Warning
