Zac Efron to star in the modern version of “Three Men and a Baby”

Yesterday at The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event, Sean Bailey, the President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, unveiled a long list of feature films in the works under the Disney banner. Among those films was Three Men and a Baby, a modern take on the hilarious ’80s comedy that will star Zac Efron and is slated for a
2022 release on Disney+.

Staring in this comedy will be a continuation of the long lasting relationship Effron has had with Disney. Efron rose to fame when he appeared as Troy Bolton on the Disney Channel film franchise High School Musical.  Currently he is in pre-production on multiple projects. Most recently, he voiced Fred on Scoob! and hosted his own Netflix special called Down to Earth.

The original 1987 Three Men and a Baby film was a box office success and starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson. It’s a story of three wealthy, exciting, and eligible bachelors who must adapt their lives to care for the daughter of one of the three men. Outside of being incredibly wealthy, the men in the film are pretty relatable. The issues they come across are universal when it comes to the stress of a new baby and being completely out of your element.

The film also had a sequel called Three Men and a Little Lady. Both films are available to stream on Disney Plus. In this clip from the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Selleck talks about the story of a ghost boy on set and about how there was brief talk of another sequel called Three Men and a Bride. Selleck thought it was a brilliant idea but unfortunately, that sequel never took place. At this point, we don’t know if the Zac Efron’s version will be a reboot or a sequel. Disney only alluded to the fact that it will be a modern version of the original.
