Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced an impressive number of exciting Disney+ series and new feature films during today’s The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event. Audiences were able to find out a little bit more about the highly anticipated series about Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

We first meet Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace where he has not yet become a Jedi Master. He takes young Anakin Skywalker under his wing and trains him through Star Wars: The Clone Wars and ultimately loses him to the dark side in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Ewan McGregor will be returning to play his iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+. Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. This is where he faced his greatest defeat: the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker who became the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader. This series will feature the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow. Chow helmed memorable episodes of The Mandalorian, Season 1.

With Hayden Christensen coming back as Darth Vader, fans can only speculate how that could be possible. Will Darth Vader still be Anakin, perhaps in Obi-Wan’s flashbacks of what happened before the fall of the Jedi? With no trailer or images for this series just yet, fans are left to be surprised and to theorize how events will play out.

Lucasfilm has not confirmed a Disney+ release date for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series at this time.
