Maddie walks along the forest path (ley lines) looking for Simon.

School Spirits Has Been Renewed For Season 4 at Paramount+

Spoilers for Season 3 ahead!

Manifesting really works! It’s been less than a month since the Season 3 finale of ‘School Spirits‘, which closed with a perfect 100% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Paramount+ has renewed the YA supernatural thriller for a fourth season. The possibilities for how to go forward in the show has opened. The possibilities may be endless but there are still storylines that need to be wrapped up. The creators of the show have done a wonderful job in their exploration of the afterlife that makes it truly feel real.

Wally, Dawn, Maddie, Janet and Simon stare in shock when Maddie's dad Dave appears.

School Spirits‘ was created by Nate Trinrud & Megan Trinrud, who are co-showrunners and executive producers on the series. Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Bridgerton) will return to season four as a consultant. List also serves as an executive producer on the series.

Questions School Spirits Will Have to Answer in Season 4

Maddie finally confesses what happened to her in the boiler room and about Janet being in her body and how her spirit stayed at the school with other ghosts.

Sandra is the reason for how everything began in the first place. It’s not hard to see how Van Heidt was able to push her spirit out. She’s been in an emotional vulnerable place ever since Dave died. Three days had passed since Xavier, Simon, and Maddie stopped Van Heidt at the school. Within those last three days, when did the body snatching take place? Where is Sandra’s spirit? How do they defeat Van Heidt for good? Those are the three question Maddie will have discover going into the new season and she’s not the only one.

Quinn, Mr. Martin, Yuri, Rhonda, and Charley crowd around a computer looking at security camera footage.

Dave leads Maddie, Simon, Janet, Wally and Dawn to her open door.

The barrier that used to surround the school is no longer there. Which means that Rhonda, Yuri, Charley, Quinn, Mr. Martin, Ralph and all the ghost that died in the school can now leave. The world just opened up. How will that tests their relationships platonic and romantic? How will the ghosts handle seeing their family and people they left behind in Split River? The barrier seemed like the biggest hurdle but it lead to an even bigger one.

Sandra’s spirit could be anywhere. With Dave still in the crossed over forest with Wally, Janet and Dawn who will help her navigate that space she finds herself in? There is a lot of growth we’re going to see from Sandra in the new season which I’m excited as we will hopefully get to see the kind of mom and person she was before the grief. The kind of mom she can be after moving past her grief. Can Maddie find her dad and friends again?

At least from Maddie’s perspective, we’ve seen what happens when you return to your body. However, Simon was alive in ghost world. Now that he is back in the land of the living, what complications will he have to face.

School Spirits‘ season three stars Peyton List as Maddie Nears, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, Maria Dizzia as Sandra Nears, Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, Miles Elliot as Yuri, and Milo Manheim as Wally Clark.

The shift in Season 3 from the classic whodunit to adding more horror elements was balanced well. Can’t wait to see how they continue elevate the bar even more in Season 4.

All three seasons are now streaming on Paramount+ in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Latin America, and Brazil.
