What to expect in star-studded “Death on the Nile”

Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unbridled passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement.

“Death on the Nile” reunites the filmmaking team behind 2017’s global hit “Murder on the Orient Express,” and stars five-time Academy Award® nominee Kenneth Branagh (Murder on the Orient Express, Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V) as the iconic detective Hercule Poirot. He is joined by an all-star cast of suspects, including: Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express, Snatched, Cold Pursuit), four-time Oscar® nominee Annette Bening (American Beauty, 20th Century Women, The Kids Are All Right), Russell Brand (Arthur, Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Ali Fazal (Furious 7, Victoria & Abdul), Dawn French (Coraline, French and Saunders, The Vicar of Dibley), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman 1984, Justice League, Ralph Breaks the Internet), Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger, The Social Network, Call Me By Your Name), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones, Honeymoon), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls), Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous, French and Saunders), and Letitia Wright (Black Panther, Black Mirror).

“Death on the Nile” is written by Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049), adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel, and is produced by Ridley Scott (The Martian, Blade Runner, Prometheus), Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, The Messenger, The Day After Tomorrow), Simon Kinberg (The Martian, Fantastic Four, Logan), Kenneth Branagh, Judy Hofflund (Panic Room) and Kevin J. Walsh (War of the Worlds, Manchester by the Sea). Matthew Jenkins (Murder on the Orient Express, Artemis Foul), James Prichard (Murder on the Orient Express, The Pale Horse), and Matthew Prichard are serving as executive producers.
