Looking back at Black Widow and her KGB, SHIELD and Avengers history

Marvel Studios debuted a new featurette that looks back at the career of Natasha Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow. Scarlett Johansson, who reprises her role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe Films appears in the featurette as she looks back at her time as a member of the KGB, SHIELD, and the Avengers.

A brief history of Natasha Romanoff.

Before Natasha Romanoff was a member of SHIELD or an Avenger, she was a Russian assassin for the KGB. She was raised in the Red Room, which is basically a training facility. It’s less School of Rock and more a way of indoctrinating young women into becoming perfect weapons. The Red Room was also known as the “Black Widow Program.”  In the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Natasha tells Steve Rogers that she has had dealings with “The Winter Soldier,” she was shot by him and shows Steve the battle scar from their encounter. In the comic tellings of her story, “The Winter Soldier” is one of the people who trained people like her in The Red Room for espionage and combat, among other things. Here, she was biologically enhanced to be the epitome of human fitness. In turn, she now has accelerated healing, enhanced strength, and speed.

Natasha was eventually recruited to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. by Clint Barton. and is one of the founding members of The Avengers.

Experience the movie July 9 in Theaters and on Disney+

In this film, Natasha Romanoff will confront the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina. This is the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.
