Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us began filming in February, and the cast announcements are coming in hot. Though several season 1 actors (Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal and Gabriel Luna to name a few) have already returned to set for season 2, fans of The Last of Us: Part II video game know there are a host of new characters yet to be introduced.
In early January, HBO confirmed that Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) will play Abby Anderson and Isabela Merced (Madame Web) and Young Mazino (Beef) will play Dina and Jesse.
Today, the studio announced four more actors joining the cast as well-known (and sometimes loved) Part II characters.
All character descriptors below are provided by Variety.
Spencer Lord (Mixed Baggage) is Owen, “a gentle soul trapped in a warrior’s body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate”.
Ariela Barer (Marvel’s Runaways) will portray Mel, “a young doctor whose commitment to saving lives is challenged by the realities of war and tribalism.”
Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) joins the cast as Manny, “a loyal soldier whose sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear he will fail his friends when they need him the most.”
Tati Gabrielle (You) plays Nora, “a military medic struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past.”
The Last of Us Part II is a hefty game, clocking in at an average play of about 20-30 hours. There are plenty more familiar characters that could cross over into HBO’s adaptation. And if season 1 is any indication, show runner Craig Mazin isn’t afraid of adding a few new faces, too.
