Of course, some news will be announced at Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic Con in July. In previous years, though, Marvel has made sure to have surprises, announcements, and first looks at their own event as well!
Saturday, August 10

New shows Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda will get first looks at this panel. Also included will be looks at the upcoming season(s) of What If…? and X-Men ’97. Creating Marvel Studios & ILM Immersive’s What If…?- An Immersive Story rounds out the Marvel panels at D23 2024. The panel will be on the Backlot Stage from 4pm-5pm and feature a look at how the first interactive Disney+ Original story was created for Apple Vision Pro. Featured on the panel will be creatives involved in the development of the first-of-its-kind collab between Marvel and ILM Immersive.
However, Marvel doesn’t quite end there. The final event of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony. This ceremony recognizes individuals from across the Walt Disney Company for their contribution to the Disney legacy. This year, Disney will recognize three Marvel-connected Legends. Touching just on their contributions to Marvel, this will include:
- Steve Ditko, the iconic and legendary comics artist and writer. Steve Ditko’s contribution to Marvel Comics is massive- co-creating Spider-Man and many of his villains, creating Doctor Strange, and re-designing Iron Man’s armor to the red-and-gold we know today among many, many other iconic works.
- Angela Bassett, known to Marvel fans as Queen Ramonda of Wakanda in the Black Panther movies. Her potrayal of Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won her the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress- Motion Picture.
- Harrison Ford hasn’t quite made his Marvel debut yet, but the iconic actor will be appearing in Captain America: Brave New World as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in 2025.
The Disney Legends ceremony will take place from 5pm-7pm at the Honda Center. Fans who have Anaheim Convention Center-only tickets can watch a simulcast of the ceremony at the Premiere Stage.
Marvel D23 2024 Pavilions & Experiences
Though Marvel will likely have some sort of prescience in various pavilions throughout D23 2024, fans will want to check out the Marvel Studios’ TVA Walkthrough Experience. Taking inspiration from Loki‘s Time Variance Authority, this immersive walkthrough experience will chronicle important moments from the MCU’s timeline. There will also be a peak at what lies in the future of the cinematic universe.
College Football fans will want to stop by the ESPN: Showcasing College Football in the Mighty Marvel Manner! experience. This area will celebrate a decade-long collaboration between Marvel and the College Football Playoff. This season will kick off with original artwork of various university mascots that have been inspired by iconic Marvel comic covers.
Other pavilions will also feature Marvel characters and stories, of course. World of Disney: The Product Experience will have various Marvel products and interactive experiences including those from Marvel. Disney+ will also host an interactive pavilion and perhaps Marvel will feature in Walt Disney Archives Presents: “A Great Big Beautiful Car Show”, showcasing iconic cars from across the Disney Archives’ collection. And with upcoming additions to the Disney Cruise Line and Disney Parks, we may also see a Marvel presence at Imagineering: Behind the Dreams, Disney Experiences.
