‘Star Trek: Section 31’ Premiere Date and Key Art Announced at NYCC

Star Trek: Section 31 finally has new key art and a premiere date announcement. The fill will premiere on Friday, January 24, 2025. Furthermore, the movie will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international markets where the service is available.

Star Trek: Section 31 Cast and Premiere Date

The original Star Trek movie stars Oscar® Award Winner Michelle Yeoh is reprising her role as fan-favorite character, Emperor Philippa Georgiou. Emperor Philippa Georgiou was originally introduced during the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. Georgiou ends up joining Section 31 – a secret division of Starfleet. She has the task of protecting the United Federation of Planets while facing the sins of her past. 

The premiere date announcement was made at the New York Comic Con (NYCC) during the Star Trek Universe panel. The panel was moderated by featured host of CBS Mornings and CBS News national correspondent Vladimir Duthiers. Also, Duthiers was joined on stage by cast members Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, and Robert Kazinsky, along with executive producer and director Olatunde Osunsanmi. As a surprise to everyone in attendance, Michelle Yeoh also joined the panel via streaming on the huge screens in the auditorium. She made her appearance using her hands and greeting the fans with a heart shaped gesture.

Section 31 Teaser Art Revealed

In addition, new teaser art was on display. The new art showed all of the cast members in costume posing alongside each letter in the Section 31 title.

Star Trek: Section 31 stars Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Emmy® winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), and Sven Ruygrok (One Piece). Also, it stars Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Miku Martineau (Kate) portrays a young Philippa Georgiou.

Craig Sweeny is the writer of the film. Olatunde Osunsanmi is the director. Star Trek: Section 31 is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Craig Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Michelle Yeoh. CBS Studios produces the film in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
