The acclaimed manga series by Dr. Poro and illustrated by Nabana Naba, “The Vermilion Mask,” is finally getting an anime adaptation by 100studio! Originally serialized in YOUNGKING OURS (Shonengahosha), this new series will feature a dark, emotional, and action-packed saga filled with powerful, yet tragic masks. The news was officially announced at Anime Expo, and fans were treated to an exclusive first look during the YTV Animation Industry Panel.

What is “The Vermilion Mask” About?

“The Vermilion Mask” tells the story of Peru, a young apprentice mask maker. Under the influence of a cursed mask, he ends up losing control and slaying his master and comrades. Peru’s actions bring him an unimaginable amount of guilt, and in order to right his wrongs, he decides to destroy the legendary masks crafted by his master. This thrilling tale of redemption brings about allies, foes, and tragedy.

In order to celebrate and announce the anime adaptation, YTV Animation has released a PV featuring the original manga. This promo effectively exhibits the heartbreak and sorrow that has settled deep within Peru as he makes the fateful decision to destroy his master’s masks. In addition, it also offers a powerful glimpse of the series’ action and emotional stakes as Peru prepares to face an approaching enemy using the strange powers that his mask possesses.
