The MCU Returns to NYCC 2025!

The MCU is returning to NYCC 2025 in a big way! New York Comic Con will host the “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation” panel this year. This marks the first official Marvel Studios/Marvel TV panel promising sneak peaks at new projects at NYCC since 2019- minus a special surprise last year.

Previously at NYCC…

Marvel fans have been waiting a long time for NYCC to get a big MCU panel again. The last time Marvel themselves announced and brought a new project to NYCC was in 2019 with “Marvel’s Runaways”. If you want to get more specifically “MCU Canon”, you’ll have to look back to 2018 when “Daredevil” season 3 had a panel! That year also featured a “Marvel’s Runaways” and an “Into the Spider-Verse” panel.

Of course, there was an unannounced surprise in 2024 for Marvel TV fans. “Daredevil” stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio took the stage during the “Marvel Fanfare with C.B. Cebulski” panel. The audience got an early look at “Daredevil: Born Again” season 1 which aired earlier this year.

This year, Marvel Television has announced their plans ahead of time, though! “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation” will take place on Saturday, October 11th from 1:30pm-2:30pm on the Empire Stage. But what is left in Marvel’s 2025 Disney+ slate that they may talk about? And what sneak peaks might we get for 2026?

“Wonder Man”

“Wonder Man” is currently the only Marvel TV show that we know is planned for a 2025 release after this year’s NYCC. From a previously released sizzle reel, “Wonder Man” is due to release this December.

Apart from the cast and a few short looks, not much is known about the show. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play the main character, Simon Williams. Simon appears to be an actor, auditioning for a movie role as Wonder Man. The show will also feature the return of Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley). Previously, he had posed as the leader of the Ten Rings in “Iron Man 3” and was last seen in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.

It’s likely that we’ll get a more solid release date and the first trailer for “Wonder Man” at NYCC!

“Daredevil: Born Again” S2 to Return With The MCU to NYCC 2025?

Though there is no confirmed airdate yet, “Daredevil: Born Again” season 2 is likely the next MCU release after “Wonder Man”. And it’s incredibly likely that we’ll get a first look at this year’s event!

The “Defenders” family of shows have a long history at NYCC- starting with the very first panel for “Daredevil” season 1 back in 2014! And, as mentioned earlier, there was even a surprise look at the show’s newest form last year.

In addition, Charlie Cox- Matt Murdock himself- is already an announced and confirmed guest for NYCC 2025 (appearing Saturday and Sunday). He could easily pop over to the Empire Stage to give fans a first look at the new season!

He’s not the only “Defenders” actor already set and announced to appear, though. Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) is also a guest and set to be a more regular character in season 2 of “DD:BA”. NYCC also recently added Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) to their guest lineup. At Disney’s 2025 upfront presentation earlier this year, we already got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be joining “DD:BA” season 2. And of course the Kingpin will continue to be a big part of season 2’s story!

And while he has not been announced to be returning to Marvel just yet, Mike Colter (Luke Cage) will also be in attendance. Could we be in for the announcement of more returning characters at the MCU NYCC 2025 panel? We’ll have to wait and see- and we’ll bring you the news as soon as we hear it!

“Vision Quest”/”Vision”

“Vision Quest” or possibly just “Vision” is a bit of a trickier one to talk about. The assumed follow-up to Vision’s (Paul Bettany) story after the end of “WandaVision” has gotten little official news. It wasn’t discussed at last year’s D23 event or any SDCC panels run by Disney or Marvel. So far the only look at the series was at Disney’s 2025 upfronts in a sizzle reel that has not been released to the public.

Variety did learn some exclusive information about the show last year, however. Per their sources, Terry Matalas (“Star Trek: Picard”) will be serving as “Vision Quest”‘s showrunner. According to UK-based production news site “The Knowledge“, the show wrapped production at the end of July 2025.

With so little promotion so far, we may see the big launch of Vision’s Disney+ show at this panel. It’ll be great to learn more- I’m definitely interested to see what story they have cooking! I also wonder where in the timeline this will fit with the projects slated for release next year…

Punisher Special Presentation

Another announced-but-little-is-known-about-it project is the Punisher special. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/the Punisher) has co-written a special episode alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green (“Bob Marley: One Love”, “We Own This City”). Green will also direct. This special will be in the vein of “Werewolf by Night” and “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special”, but of course with Frank’s own violent form of vigilantism.

Marvel’s The Punisher. Will we learn more about his upcoming special for the MCU at NYCC 2025?

Of course, it has also been announced that the Punisher will be making his big-screen MCU debut with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. Whether this special will lead into Frank’s involvement with the webslinger or will focus more on the events of “Daredevil: Born Again” season 2 remains to be seen. Hopefully we get a first look and a release date at this panel!

Update 9/12/2025: ReedPop has announced that Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher) will also be a guest at this year’s event! He will likely be a part of any news for DD:BA, but it’s now increasingly likely that he will bring news about this project as well!

Marvel Animation at NYCC 2025

“Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” S2

It’s not just live action TV that Marvel will be covering at this panel! Marvel Animation fans will be getting their time, too. And, according to a Collider interview with Brad Winderbaum (Marvel’s Head of Streaming, TV, and Animation), “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” will likely see its next season in 2026.

The show, originally announced to be a mainline-MCU prequel, instead follows an alternate timeline. In this animated universe, Norman Osborn mentors Peter at the start of his Spider-Man career rather than Tony Stark. Some MCU characters pop up (Dr. Strange) and some characters have yet to be introduced in the main timeline- such as Lonnie Lincoln, aka Tombstone.

Shortly after “YFNSM” season 1 finished airing, showrunner and writer Jeff Trammell shared a big teaser for season 2 on his Instagram. Gwen Stacy, aka Ghost-Spider, will be joining the show!

At NYCC 2025, fans may get even more teases for the next season of the show- and perhaps a firmer airdate than just “2026”? Additionally, the show is already renewed for at least a third season, so fans will likely get more news about that as well.

“X-Men ’97” Season 2

Collider also previously confirmed with Brad Winderbaum that the highly-anticipated continuation of the X-Men animated series will be coming in 2026!

Season 1 of the show left off on a big cliffhanger. After defeating Bastion and Sinister- and reversing the attempted conversion of humans into Prime Sentinels- Bastion tried another trick. Xavier and Magneto repelled Asteroid M and prevented it from killing everyone on Earth, but it seemed as if most of the X-Men were killed in the process. However, it was revealed that the team has been scattered in time. Some in the far future, some in the far past.

Marvel could release the first look at “X-Men ’97” s2 at NYCC 2025! We could also get looks at new characters and additional voice cast for the new season.

New MCU Projects at NYCC 2025…?

Of course, these are just the projects that we know about. Marvel has indicated that they may be pulling back some on the Disney+ shows, but the longer format of a TV series can be a great place to explore characters more in-depth and introduce new characters as well.

Past “Vision Quest”, we have no official announcements on brand new live action MCU projects for Disney+. However, IGN has confirmed that a third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is in the works. “DD:BA” season 3 will begin shooting next year, likely with a 2027 airdate. With season 2 yet to air, it’s not likely that we’ll find out more at NYCC, but you never know!

One other MCU project, “Armor Wars” was initially announced as a Disney+ series. However, The Hollywood Reporter reported that it is now being developed as a theatrical release.

Of course we have the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” releasing next year which will surely shake things up. Who knows where the various characters in the MCU will be after December 18, 2026? Or what they’ll need to set up for “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027!

Regardless of any new projects that may or may not be announced for the MCU at NYCC 2025, it really is exciting for New York to get their turn at the exciting announcements again!

Panels to Watch For

In addition to the main Marvel TV and Animation panel, Saturday has a second panel that may be of interest to MCU fans. From 5pm-6pm in North-Room 405, NYCC will host the “Marvel: Comics to Screen” panel.

According to the panel’s listing on NYCC’s website, C.B. Cebulski- Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief, will host the panel. He’ll have “special guests” as the panel explores how Marvel’s beloved comics are translated to the screen. Who these “special guests” are, we’ll just have to wait and see! But fans who attend the panel will also get an exclusive comic book.

From left to right: Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Skye (Chloe Bennet), and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in “Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.” episode “The Well”. This trio will reunite to celebrate their part in the MCU at NYCC 2025

There are also two reunion panels on the schedule. Chloe Bennet, Clark Gregg, and Ming-Na Wen will be part of the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” reunion panel on Saturday, October 11th from 11:15am-12:15pm on the Main Stage. On Sunday from 12pm-1pm on the Empire Stage, there will be a panel with the “X-Men: Days of Future Past” cast. So far the panel includes Elliot Page (Kitty Pryde), James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier), and Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy/Beast).

It’s highly unlikely that these panels will come with any MCU announcements but you never know!

And More!

Marvel Studios will once again be on the Exhibitor Show Floor of NYCC. Their booths will be #2153 and #2453. The Marvel booth has been pared down slightly in recent years with a decrease at in-booth programming. However, they still host photo-ops and cosplay meetups. Plus, they often have costumes and props from recent Marvel Studios releases on display!

Though there is no guarantee, this could just be the start of MCU related goodies at NYCC 2025. As of writing this article, there are eight unannounced but planned panels for the Main Stage and Empire Stage. These are NYCC’s biggest panel spaces and often reserved for big blockbuster panels!

Stay with us as we bring you more Marvel news for NYCC leading up to and at this year’s event!
