About Anime Expo

Anime Expo was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 1-4 2023. The convention was started in 1991 as “Anime Con” by the members of UC Berkeley’s anime club, Cal Animage Alpha. Anime Expo boast an impressive lineup of manga creators, anime studios, vendors, artists, cosplay guests, voice actors, and more.

Anime Expo Cosplay: Bungo Stray Dogs

Cosplay has grown in popularity over the years. Cosplayers draw inspiration from their favorite anime, movies, televisions shows, comics, video games, or other sources of pop culture, and represent their favorite characters through costumes. As with all anime conventions, cosplayers turned out in full force in Los Angeles for all four days of Anime Expo.

Cosplay Trends

One of the most popular anime/manga represented by cosplayers this year at Anime Expo was Bungo Stray Dogs. The Bungo Stray Dogs series had a large presence at the convention this year. The series’ creator, Kafka Asagiri, was at the convention on the first and second days. Fans were treated to a Q&A panel on day one as well as the premiere of the fifth season on day two.
