Pixar at D23 Expo 2022!

Disney’s D23 Expo kicked off on Friday with a panel featuring all the new movies coming soon from Disney Animation, Pixar, and Disney’s live action movies. After revealing some fun news about their live action movies, the panel moved on to Pixar’s upcoming projects!

D23 EXPO 2022 – The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by VISA – brings together all the worlds of Disney under one roof for three packed days of presentations, pavilions, experiences, concerts, sneak peeks, shopping, and more. The event, which takes place September 9, 10, and 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center, provides fans with unprecedented access to Disney films, series, games, theme parks, collectibles, and celebrities. Elemental

Pixar’s D23 Expo presentation stared with new looks at their next original movie, Elemental. Due for release June 16, 2023 the movie follows two characters, Ember and Wade, who live in a city where people made up of fire, water, land, and air all live together. The Ember and Wade will be voiced by Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie, both of whom attended the panel.

ELEMENTAL, Disney and Pixar’s all-new, original feature film releasing June 16, 2023, features the voices of Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, respectively. In a city where fire-, water-, land-, and air-residents live together, this fiery young woman and go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common. “Elemental” is directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream.

The film’s director, Peter Sohn, said that the inspiration for the story was personal. The film will deal with the themes and ideas of immigrants coming to a new city where their languages and cultures all come together.

Elemental will release in theaters June 16, 2023.

Win Or Lose

Next, Pixar discussed new details for the studio’s first Disney+ series, Win or Lose*. The series, out on Disney+ service Fall 2023, is directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates. Each episode of the series will follow a co-ed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode will follow a different character in the story, and feature a unique visual style.

WIN OR LOSE features the voice of Will Forte as Coach Dan. Pixar’s first-ever original long-form animated series follows a co-ed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode highlights the perspective of a different character—like Coach Dan—and explores the drama of bad calls being made on and off the field. A story about love, rivalry and the challenges we all face in our struggle to win at life, “Win or Lose” streams on Disney+ in Fall 2023.

It was revealed that Will Forte will voice one of the show’s characters- the softball team’s Coach Dan. Fans at D23 Expo also got to see an exclusive clip from the show!

Elio

Pixar’s D23 Expo presentation continued with news on a brand-new original movie: Elio. Starring Yonas Kibreab as Elio and America Ferrara as Olga Solis, the movie follows a young boy who makes first contact after he is mistaken for Earth’s ambassador by a group of extra-terrestrials!

ELIO, Disney and Pixar’s all-new, original feature film releasing Spring 2024, is about an 11-year-old dreamer named Elio (voice of Yonas Kibreab), who finds it hard to fit in until he is suddenly beamed up into space, transported across the galaxy and mistaken to be the intergalactic Ambassador for Earth. Featuring the voice of America Ferrera as Elio’s smart and super-confident mom, Olga, “Elio” is directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Mary Alice Drumm.

The movie’s titular character Elio is described as an “INdoorsman” and very artistic and creative though he has trouble fitting in with his peers. His Mom, Olga, runs a top-secret military project and is attempting to decode a message from space. Elio winds up being the person to make contact, though, and is taken on board the aliens’ ship!

Directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, Elio will release in Spring 2024.

Inside Out 2

And finally, Amy Poehler took to the D23 Expo stage to announce Inside Out 2! Out in Summer 2024, the movie will explore new emotions in Riley’s head as she becomes a teenager.

Inside Out 2 will be directed by Kelsey Mann, with Mark Nielsen producing. Meg LeFauve, one of the original Inside Out‘s script writers will return to write the sequel.
