Huge turn out of Marvel Cosplayers at Los Angeles Comic Con

Large group of Marvel Cosplayers showed up at Los Angeles Comic Con! Los Angeles Comic Con is one of L.A.’s largest pop culture events. And when it comes to comics, gaming, sci-fi, and pop culture in general, it’s definitely the largest. From December 2nd to the 4th this event welcomed 126,600 attendees and hosted celebrity talent from film, television, and comics.

Unlike many other convention centers in Southern California, the Los Angeles Convention Center offers a large indoor lobby area with protection from bad weather, tons of excellent lighting, and space to move around. It also offers plenty of staircases where cosplayers can line up and pose for group photos without blocking people from moving about the convention center. Cosplayers find lots of creative ways to host meet-ups and take advantage of the 1.2 million square feet of space in and around the West and South Halls of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Marvel Cosplayers at Los Angeles Comic Con

On Saturday, December 3rd, the second day of the convention, a large group of attendees gathered in cosplay to celebrate their love for Marvel. L.A. Comic Con is a fan favorite for cosplayers. The South Hall Lobby of the Los Angeles Convention Center provides a unique space where cosplayers can gather.

The cosplay meet-ups are organized by fans. In many cases, large group meet-ups are coordinated by cosplay fan groups and cosplay photographers. There are also niche events organized by Cosplayers like @meshellwaffleo and @thegirlwithagreatsmile, who hosted a special meet-up inspired by the Marvel Comics event “The Hell Fire Gala”.

Marvel Cosplays at the Cosplay Competition

The love for the Marvel franchise extended to the cosplays at the 7th Annual National Cosplay Championship. Cosplayers competed for $30,000 in cash and other prizes in the 7th Annual Cosplay National Championship by participating in one of three categories: Master, Journeyman, or Novice.

This year’s final attendance of 126,600 guests represents a 33% increase from 2021 (impacted by mandated COVID-19 regulations and restrictions) and a 2.6% increase from 2019’s pre-pandemic record. Additionally, together with Tiltify, the presenting sponsor of the Main Stage, LA Comic Con helped raise money and awareness for the World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that’s the first to provide chef-prepared fresh meals at the frontlines in response to community crises.
