A24’s “Talk to Me” Panel at SDCC

Danny and Michael Philippou (a.k.a. RackaRacka) discuss their journey from YouTube creators to their feature debut and how their love of genre led them to make the most anticipated horror film of the summer. They will be joined by Talk to Me cast members Sophie Wilde, Joe Bird, Alexandra Jensen, and Zoe Terakes.

The panel will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2023, 4:15 pm – 5:15 pm PDT in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

Talk to Me is a 2022 Australian supernatural horror film about a young woman who becomes involved in the supernatural after conducting a séance with an embalmed hand. It is scheduled to be released in theaters in Australia on July 27, 2023.

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2023

Held annually in San Diego, CA, San Diego Comic-Con celebrates comic books, movies, television, and other forms of pop culture. SDCC is the largest convention of its kind in the world, and it attracts over 130,000 people each year.

As they do every year, SDCC organizers worked with creatives across all facets of the entertainment industry to bring fans tons of exciting panels and events.  And while A24’s Talk To Me cast will be promoting their film at SDCC, not many actors will be able to.

Currently, the writers and actors unions  WGA and SAG-AFTRA are on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). Which includes the biggest television and film studios in the country. A24 is not a member of the AMPTP and so the unions are not striking against them.

But for the big-name studios that usually headline at SDCC, it means their actors and writers can not promote the films. Under the strike terms, members won’t be able to promote any scripted television and theatrical work from struck companies.

The livelihoods of working-class SAG-AFTRA and WGA members are in jeopardy. Due to the fact that the AMPTP refuses to offer a fair deal to creatives who work in television, theatrical, and streaming work. The AMPTP needs to negotiate a deal so that actors and writers can be paid fairly.
