Interview: Luis Gerardo Méndez “The Resort” at San Diego Comic-Con

Luis Gerardo Méndez is one of Mexico’s biggest stars and he is now starring alongside William Jackson Harper and Cristi Milioti in the limited series, The Resort, on Peacock. We caught up with Méndez at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss his role in the series.

Interview with Luis Gerardo Méndez

Luis Gerardo Méndez is best known for playing the lead role and executive producing Netflix’s first Spanish-language original comedy series Club de Cuervos and his role in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico as Mexican police officer ‘Victor Tapia’.

During our interview, Méndez was asked about the biggest difference between working on projects in Mexican television and then moving on to projects like Narcos: Mexico and The Resort. To which  Méndez replied that there really isn’t a difference, “I think it’s the same craft. It’s just different budgets, you know, like in Mexico we learn to be creative with less money. So when you get the bigger toys it’s a lot a fun”.

The Resort at San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con returned last month after a three-year hiatus. During the four and half-day event the world premiere of Peacock and UCP’s ‘The Resort’ took place. There was a panel with show creator Andy Siara and cast William Jackson Harper, Cristin Milioti, Nina Bloomgarden, and Luis Gerardo Méndez.

The Resort is a multi-generational, coming-of-age love story disguised as a fast-paced mystery about the disappointment of time. The series takes place around the events of an anniversary trip. The trip puts a marriage to the test when the couple finds themselves embroiled in one of the Yucatan’s most bizarre unsolved mysteries. A mystery that took place fifteen years prior.

The first three episodes premiered on Peacock on July 28.
