As Halloween approaches, I bring you a charming, inclusive, and fun new addition to the comic book world in Hollow. Hollow is the story of three young friends navigating their town’s rich history, their adolescent feelings, and their struggles with identity.
Interview with the Creative Team of “Hollow”
I had the opportunity to interview the creative team behind the graphic novel and gathered some insight into the story and what the creative process was like.
Some of my favorite moments from this interview were when Branden and Shannon were talking about how it was writing for Berenice.

There is a lot of talk in the comic book community about a lack of respect and praise for comic book artists so it was really wonderful to experience such wonderful respect and admiration for Bernice and her work bringing Brandon and Shannon’s story to life.
This team also put a lot of care into their cast of characters. The inclusion in this story is really important. One of my favorite parts of talking with these lovely ladies is the love fest that was going on. You know the story is at the very least going to be coherent and enjoyable when the entire team behind it has nothing but admiration for each other.
Boom Studios’ “Hollow”
Hollow is a supernatural queer romance and adventure set in the infamous town of Sleepy Hollow, available in September 2022. I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of this graphic novel and I can’t wait for it to be available to everyone.
The story is enjoyable and warm and it is the perfect reading material for fall. This wonderful team deserves all the success in the world and I hope this graphic novel becomes one of BOOM! Studios’ biggest sellers.
