Keanu Reeves Brings John Wick Announcement to San Diego Comic-Con
Keanu Reeves surprised fans with some new news at San Diego Comic-Con to bring John Wick, aka The Boogeyman, aka Baba Yaga, back to the big screen. This will be the fourth installment in the movie serial and will continue its tradition of more body breaking, high flying, martial arts sequences that have captivated its audiences since the first film. Let’s take a look at what Keanu Reeves revealed about John Wick 4.
But First A Quick Recap
The time in between films can often be confusing and sometimes forgetful, especially for serial films. So just to refresh everyone’s minds prior to this film, or if anyone decides to do a rewatch, after John Wick 3: Parabellum, Wick has been claimed “excommunicado” and ends up becoming somewhat of a vagabond as news broke out to all the assassins in the world that he is #1 on their hitlist.
The High Table, a mob-like underworld crime organization, is still on the hunt for Wick for being traitorous. Winston, (Ian McShane) supposed ally to John Wick, planned a way out via a “fake death” for John Wick to avoid any further confrontation with the High Table. However, as fans know, the story doesn’t end there, and John Wick is obviously alive and may have found a new ally in The Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) after his character was betrayed and brutally punished by The High Table. Now that Wick’s status is “excommunicado,” it appears that he is left to fend for himself.
The Hunt Begins
Fast Forward to John Wick: Chapter 4, Wick doesn’t seem like he’s trying to hide. Sticking to his own M.O., it looks like Wick doesn’t back down from The High Table. Instead, he faces them head on with actor Donnie Yen being added to the cast for John Wick 4. In this fourth installment, John Wick takes on his most lethal adversaries yet. With the price on his head ever increasing, Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Osaka to Berlin. The release date for John Wick: Chapter 4 is March 24, 2023.
