Anime Expo is the largest celebration of Japanese pop culture in North America. Anime Expo hosts crowds of over 100,000 attendees. Among the crowd is one of the biggest representations of Cosplayers of all the Southern California conventions. Cosplay is a play on the words costume and roleplay! It’s when a person dresses up as a character from movies, television, or pop culture. It is similar to the idea of a Halloween costume but it’s something that happens all year long at conventions. Attendees at conventions dress in celebration of the characters they love. Many times drawing the attention of other con-goers and posing for photos.
