“Welcome to the Mighty Nein!” Critical Role’s newest animated series will debut on Prime Video next Wednesday. The series is based on Campaign 2 of Critical Role. “The Mighty Nein” follows a rowdy group of outsiders and criminals who are thrown together in a time of great chaos. Conflict between two nations is on the horizon, and political pitfalls are in every direction. In order to survive, these misfits will need to figure out the truth of what is going on and how they fit into the bigger picture.
This series is set in a new part of Exandria, in a new era, and introduces a ton of new characters. “The Legend of Vox Machina” is more comedic with a traditional epic fantasy slant. However, “The Mighty Nein” is a much grittier political espionage thriller. With so much new information, Temple of Geek wanted to give a quick rundown of key characters and aspects in the series. The first two episodes of “Nine Days Until The Mighty Nein” introduced Fjord Stone and Jester Lavorre.
Meet Beauregard Lionett Of The Mighty Nein
In episode 3 we are introducing Beauregard “Beau” Lionett. Beau is played by Marisha Ray. Ray plays Keyleth in “The Legend of Vox Machina” and Campaign 1. She is one of the founders, main cast members, and the creative director of Critical Role. Beau is from a wealthy family in Kamordah. The enterprising Lionetts have become important merchants, becoming important in “society.” Her father wished for a boy and because of this often ignored Beau.
Eventually Beau began working for the family business, keeping the books. Believing there was a better way to make more money, Beau attempted to prove her hunch right after being brushed aside by her father once again. Through these efforts Beau fell in with the wrong crowd, eventually being busted. Beau was once again seen as a disappointment.
Beau was recruited, although not through the typical protocol, to the Cobalt Soul, a group of monk librarians devoted to protecting knowledge. Still passed over and feeling less than, Beau continued to strive for a way to prove herself and her naysayers wrong. Beaus is extremely intelligent, a skilled investigator, and an impressive fighter. However, her prickly, temperamental attitude is often off-putting. Beau would eventually stumble across a group of chaotic oddballs, finding her place with the Mighty Nein.
“The Mighty Nein” premieres on Prime Video November 19. Check back tomorrow for another episode of “Nine Days Until The Mighty Nein.”
